I think I would make something smallish, just call my freighter into the system if I want my storage containers. I did find the corvette building fiddly when I tried it the other night and got Starfield flashbacks. I'm just not that much of a builder, but will attempt a small corvette when I've got a fair selection of parts (or maybe switch to creative mode and back so I can access all the parts).

Yeah I tried a small design for my first one, that I posted here a few minutes ago, but it didn't feel sufficient :-).
 
Went basic, something that would realistically work,will need to find a way for better lighting Sep-2@20.49.54.png
Just a better picture overall somehow, maybe I'll take from my PC tomorrow

Yes finally, by just going basic :).
I was like what is an aeroplane, a tube with wings... So I built a practical corvette that is a tube essentially, the basics.

Flying it, is exactly how it looks :-), it's a mini freighter, it doesn't handle like a fighter. I might want to build a more combat orientated corvette.
 
Was gathering parts last night with the mini-freighter :-) infra knife accelerator just allows you to open the salvaged parts. I actually need to go through them, spent about an hour just gathering.

Was that the scan and collect from corvette method you tried? It looked cool! Hoping I can make a small one that flies more like a fighter, but suspect I will end up back in my fighter as I don't like flying ships that feel bulky and sluggish.

Yup, it is :-) sometimes you've got scrap all around you and being high up you just turn and shoot :-) you can build a fighter type corvette, it has all the same attributes and upgrades as a normal ship.
 
I hope, when Light No Fire hits circulation it will have everything they've learned NOT to do when they first launched NMS. But these guys have, by god, gone above and beyond since then.

Corvettes are huge :) even a smaller one. This new one is 2 stories but still is huge.
I've got way way to many parts now

Basic one is just a tube :) with thrusters. Also you only need 3 of everything to max out the potential, so if you really want basic, just have 3 of everything.
Plus now I want to do some mods to the mini freighter, there are some reactors I found that can improve hyperdrive, so now I'll have to go clear the interior to mod it :-(. Plus some streamlining with the 3 parts thing, where not aesthetically needed :-)

Last night, warp to a system under attack, while in the mini freighter, yeah sorry I tried to take down the dreadnaught but it still won against the civilians and warped out.
Compared to my senti or my fighter, flying a truck in space is hard.

You're not playing the expedition yet? I think I'm going to have to watch some corvette building videos to get some inspiration. Thanks for the 3 parts tip! I don't have enough parts to do that yet, thinking I will do some exploring and collect a good selection. The corvette parts storage at the space station is very useful in the expedition as I was running out of space!

Not as yet, spent time burning through the parts I gathered across a few planets to build the "smaller" corvette. I've got billions of units so buying parts isn't a problem, plus trading parts now that it's fixed also isn't a problem.
The expedition is going to be interesting starting with 0 eish :-(.
Yup, even for things like the habs/walkways it's 3 parts for any bonus. Plus of course a corvette seems it requires more specialisation than a fighter as the tech bay fills up fast.

Expedition will be my weekend entertainment. My first weekend that is scot free in a while now. Looking forward to it so much.
