No Man's Sky

Is it just me or is the sheer size, scope of the gameplay in No Man's Sky actually a barrier to new players.

Its in that WARFRAME bracket for me now,
Nope, you can also do what you want at your own pace.
I spent a few weeks building a base, then corvettes, one day I'll get to the middle

Was going to say the same as @AlphaJohn. While there is a lot to see and do, you don't have to do it all at once or ever! There's a lot of stuff I haven't really played with because it doesn't interest me.

With the expeditions you have a list of things to get through but the main game is much more open and we have probably all experienced the distractions it provides. Start off with a plan to go somewhere and do something and find yourself running around a planet distracted by a new shiny object instead.

I thought I was already surviving gas giants  Aren't those the extra crazy new planets where it feels like too much is happening at once and I might get electrocuted or relocated by the wind/gravity with a side of permanent extreme weather?
Those are the ones. But, they're not that bad. The tornadoes bug you, but with decent shielding it's fine.

Yeah noticed the differences from expedition to my main save, how good shields are a need.
It's why I spend like 10 or 20 hours "prepping" either before or during the beginning of the expedition. Getting money to buy all the suit upgrades and get nanites!

Sometimes I just go in with what I start. Mainly cause I forgot your first steps

Well this is your notice right now! ALERT! Expedition incoming, start gathering your supplies and upgrades now  You can take through large stacks of upgrades but obviously can't access them until you can get to the anomaly but that usually doesn't take so long. Then any upgrades you don't need can be sold for nanites! (I'm pretty sure you know all this hehe)

That's how I start out. Then Adhd kicks in and I'm off to fix a base, build a corvette or smuggle contraband

When you have insurance information to look over and the NMS update has just finished installing.

More info below, Breach expedition apparently starting today and only running for 3 weeks. Not sure if I want to risk my main save on this expedition, might just start from scratch for it.

I started the expedition last night with a fresh save, it's a pretty chilled start compared to others we've had this year. Good resources on the first planet. Still need to figure out the best way to get upgrades in a desolate and abandoned universe! Stumbled upon a few while exploring, they may come up in some of the new things we find and as expedition task rewards.

Did Voyagers but as a branch off my main save. (Visiting Anomaly)

From what I understand, I can get unlocks even if I use a Fresh game as well?
Yes, the main expedition rewards for each phase will be connected to your account, so you can access them in your main save. You just can't bring across things like ships or multi-tools or supplies back to your main save. Not sure if your multiple devices and cross-saving affects anything, I only play on Steam on PC.
