Bought a rain sim last month but not used as we were expecting MTN fibre install which never happened (they cancelled the order without telling us, my husband inadvertently chased the openserve guy away we thought it was Telkom, not realizing Mtn uses openserve to install). Could not manage to get Mtn to reopen the order they insist we must go through the application process again first. So facing another delay at our new shop of 3 weeks no staff or wifi we looked at the rain sim again. The sim is active (apparently). We went into the computer shop 20 metres from our shop and asked they check it works before we buy the router. They did the APN settings but no signal. We sent a support ticket no reply yet (its only been 24 hours) We didn't buy the modem and can test only on our phones which there is no coverage at home. There is full coverage at the shop as our admin assistant brings her rain sim and modem every other day and that's how she has been working but she comes and goes at whim so not that we can rely on her wifi. Its clear lots of people have issues with receiving so called active sims when its not active at all. R460 wasted now, paid for nothing at all. Thank goodness we hadn't outlayed for the modem.
Its been 3 weeks since it was activated. On the website it also says the sim has active status. We tried calling MTN again but still getting the run around. We now working with a wireless router company that also uses Open Serve and they will install in a week they said but sounds like overpromising - probably, realistically 2 weeks. Altogether now 6 weeks we can't get Wifi for our shop in the middle of Hillcrest when we have a fibre box ready to be commissioned and fibre in the whole block. Ridiculous, honestly. It does take a while for the SIM to become active for whatever reason. Double check on the portal that it is in fact active.
I couldn't get my Rain SIM to work in my phone when I activated it recently but it is working in a Huawei 4G modem
Hi guys, perhaps you can assist me. I also started having this problem since 5 days ago and mind you I have been using this rain SIM for 3 months until 5 days ago I woke up and boom the signal was lost... I'm so devasted as working from home has become a mess
Hahahaha, phone them? More chances of winning the Lotto than actually talking to a living being from Rain.Phone them?

Hey, yes I have tried both ways and neither of them workd... they even told me that it's because of coverage however it doesn't make sense if I was connecting for the whole 3 months before now
Funny you would say that hey... I missed their call earlier and upon calling back there was no response, I will try them again on Monday... I don't assume the work on Sundays or do they?Hahahaha, phone them? More chances of winning the Lotto than actually talking to a living being from Rain.
