No signal with new gpu ?

The other day may gpu got struck by lightning.
I put in a new(used.but working gpu a 1060 gtx) I know its working because it booted right with a friend's monitor.

My problem is that it seems.to not be able to output the correct refresh rate or resolution to make the display work on my samsung bx2031 monitor.

I can boot into the bios there is display but its very low resolution.

As soon as windows boots up halfway the screen goes blank but the pc keeps on booting.

On board gpu boots up just fine.

I tried 3 different cables no luck.

The card works as it boots up fine with a friends pc screen.

Anyone know if there is anything i could do that would make it work ? Or did.nvidia intentionally make the card to be incompatible with my monitor ?

If the problem is output signal compatibility ? Is it possible to install the gpu software and tweak it inside windows with my on board gpu while the gtx is in the slot so that when i restart the pc it would use the correct output settings ?

How did your GPU get struck by lightning? Do you mean your PC got struck by lightning? Or did it strike only the GPU?

Assuming you mean your house was struck by lightning and you GPU died, it's safe to assume there may be other faulty components in your PC. In fact, the fact that it works in your friend's PC shows that the card is fine and the issue is with your PC. Likely culprits include the motherboard, PSU, screen, CPU, RAM, keyboard, mouse, headset, cooler, fans.

I would start by trying it with a different screen and seeing if that helps. If so, could be your screen.

But I'm, 98.7% sure something in your PC is fried, likely your PSU or motherboard.

It's also worth trying a different plug/power strip and power cable.

Seems like something else is damaged on your mainboard, perhaps a PCIE controller or a few caps/transistors.

Sorry let me clarify
There is nothing wrong with my pc the card got damaged everything else works fine.

My pc was connected to my friends monitor after the lightning strike and it works perfect with the gtx 1060 graphics card.

My monitor also works fine it was connected to my friend'pc running an old 710 gpu.

Hmm.

I agree with @ponder then, boot into safemode using the on-board GPU and run DDU. Uninstall all GPU drivers, then restart and see if it's any better.
 
Sounds like a case for troubleshooting. Use the 1 by 1 approach until you find what's causing the issue. Remove all unnecessary connectors, boot into safe mode, revert drivers, etc
 
Mb is fine tested on another peraons monitor with the gtx 1060 inside works perfect.
I am currently in safe mode with this card on my monitor
 
Tried clean install drivers and used ddu no go, anything else i could try
 
I was out the afternoon buying different cables but all cables doing the same thing. Will the log assist or is there any other info i can post, will copy the screenshot to my phone in the morning and put it on the site.

I am just wondering if the screen is incompatible with the gpu or if there mighg be a "developer tweak" that could de glitch the screen turning off when starting up.
 
Hmmm interesting issue.
If I understand the situation correctly.
Your PC boots into windows fine with friends monitor.
Your Monitor works on friends PC.
But your PC + your monitor = screen goes blank but the pc keeps on booting, also it works in BIOS and safe mode.
You already ran DDU and other cables so it seems like the basics have been ruled out.

First thought, maybe a weird bug or quirk is resulting in your system defaulting to an incorrect resolution in normal startup, should be 1600x900 according to monitor specs.

Boot into safe mode and run CRU, check under detailed resolutions if it shows 1600 x 900

Another test you can do would be to boot from a linux live usb/dvd, this will eliminate all software/os issues. If the issue persists then it's hardware related.
