NOKIA 5800 Irritations!!

mine fits snug ..not too tight like you describing... anyways i hardly use the pouch but i am VERY CAREFUL were i leave it and not to scratch it! BTW did anyone find a place in jhb were we can get replacement screen protectors ?

I have to agree with you Vegeta, whenever i'm driving i have to take it out the pouch otherwise i would never be able to answer any calls in time.
a silicone cover that allows you to answer the phone would be nice and i need a screen protector asap....is there stock anywhere yet?

Yes please silicone cover & screen protector any know of any? I've ordered that screen protector from Hong Kong as per the first page of this thread.. Had no choice couldn't find any local stock, i'm still waiting for it to arrive though, will prob be here next week.

The problem is not so much the std pouch squeezing the phone its when you rip it out fast to take a call you might rip of a button or the silver ring around the camera, that silver ring keeps snagging on the edges of the pouch when i stick it in there. And the squeezing will make the phone even more squeeky and its squeeky to begin with!:(
 
The biggest problem I fear with the 5800 is the speaker humidity issue. I am hoping we in SA gets the batches that are fixed and not prone to this kind of failure.

Apart from that I think the phone is a bit rushed, from what I read in reviews, but that will change as new firmware comes out.

Agree the speaker thing has me shaking in my boots... but i dont agree with your last point i felt the same reading the reviews but once i got it i thought:
what are they talking about? Sybian feels properly adjusted for touch and it doesnt feel rushed at all, quite polished if you ask me much better than any winMO adjustments, not as good as a total rewrite of the OS like OSX on the iphone but polished none the less... This phone needs capasitive touch though the resistive touch works well but capasitive will make the device perfect.
 
I am a big Nokia and Symbian fan so I am keen on getting a 5800 myself. The samsung Omnia HD is also on Symbian 9.4 and it has capasitive touch. I prefer resistive thought.

Buy the Omnia HD then we can swap :D

What is your reasoning?

Do you use the stylis a lot? I think I wont ever want to use the stylis, so was thinking I'm gonna be disappointed with Resistive.
 
Well got my 5800 this weekend and it is great!
I understand that most mobile shops will be getting stock of protectors and pouches this week (Wednesday/Thursday)
 
Had mine now for less than 24 hours now :p

So far no issues at all! Love the way they've programed it.

Its a huge upgrade from my Nokia N91 :D
 
has anyone noticed that on the top right hand corner , there is a big gap , i can actually lift the cover with my nail
 
Anyone having problems with their Agps? Dont have any signal when im inside or outside and at different locations. Installed GarminXT earlier and still no luck.

When outside, are you surrounded by tall buildings?
Are you sure your A-Gps is on/activated?
 
yea im pretty sure that its activated, I live on a farm outside stellenbosch so no tall buildings close to me.
 
looks like I got it going, on garmin, so no hardware issue then... :)
 
Something I've noticed, if I'm browsing a site (Opera too), noticed it a lot on facebook. I press a link, it looks like it is pressed, then when i let go, it goes back to not being pressed, and it takes a few times to "register" the click.

Its not even that i didn't push hard enough or correctly, because, it highlights it, like its clicked, until you release your digit.

I can liken it to, in Windows. You click and hold a button (its depressed)... Then you move you mouse away (while still holding the mouse button down).. The button becomes un-pressed...

Highly annoying :P
 
Is there anyone else out there waiting on new stock to arrive? I went by a MTN store today and they said that all the outlets are waiting on fresh stock to arrive in the country...anyone have a heads up?
