NOKIA 5800 Tips Tricks & Apps Thread.....

Just without the Contacts Bar lol, otherwise you will still have KS and everything else.
Guys another bug is with RDS in the Radio,it doesnt seem to work properly anymore, its not a big deal but theyve broken a feature that was perfect just the way it was in V31, ah well.

So another corrupt memory card.

What the fuq.

I'm gonna try a new MiniSD card now and once and for all see what the issue is

So who is going to try it first to make sure it doesn't delete/interfere with any 'ahem' other GPS software on the phone

Went to the site, gave my cell number, got the SMS with direct download link.

Uninstalled previous version of Nokia Maps with the expired licence.

Opened the download link and now running Ovi Maps, the free for life version and it is really nice, voice guided navigation with street names named.

Have also just done an updated using Nokia Maps loader as I noticed some downloads happening when I tested it earlier (1.2MB)

What can I say, free navigation for life of handset, free map updates, location based suggested services for food, eating out etc.

Have never regretted getting the 5800XM and this is now the cherry on top :D

Oh yes, Garmin still runs fine, and so does NDrive, but Ovi Maps rock.

+1000 :D Very happy with this phone and all its features, never had a lot of problems with it like others have said.;)

Totaly agree with you guys. Im loving 5800XM even more with the free GPS navigation :D never had a single issue with this phone and now NOKIA go and spoil us with this? IM LOVING IT! May just delay my upgrade.

Nokia had to do this. Google opened the floodgates by making turn-by-turn navigation free on the Android, and Nokia knew then that they had to do something fast, before it was too late. I'm happy - gonna be downloading the new OVI Maps today. :)

EDIT: Now available through SW Update.

Maybe i play with my phone much more than most people on here but i have a big issue with memory cards and the tube. Sparklehorse mentioned it could be the way the phone handles fat32. I do love the phone and play with it constantly, best phone i've ever had by far

Done. Works well, looks good, and lives in tandem with my copy of the other GPS software I have. It removed the old copy of Ovi Maps, of course.

I always make a full copy and paste of the MMC on my PC eg MMC-22-01-10 before any upgrade/software addon etc.

I then only need to backup the phone itself which goes quicker.

When I do OS upgrades I remove the MMC.

I have on two occaissions formatted the MMC after OS upgrades using the phone to do the format and then copy / paste the contents of the MMC-22-01-10 directory or earlier one if needed and have _never_ experienced any problems with corruption etc from the MicroSD Memory Card.

But then again, I have other toys to play with too ;)

what contract have you guys taken you 5800 out on? im due for upgrade tomorrow with autopage on mtn and have to make up my mind
