I haven't had the issue yet (luckily)
Is this after a reboot as well?

So who is going to try it first to make sure it doesn't delete/interfere with any 'ahem' other GPS software on the phone

Went to the site, gave my cell number, got the SMS with direct download link.
Uninstalled previous version of Nokia Maps with the expired licence.
Opened the download link and now running Ovi Maps, the free for life version and it is really nice, voice guided navigation with street names named.
Have also just done an updated using Nokia Maps loader as I noticed some downloads happening when I tested it earlier (1.2MB)
What can I say, free navigation for life of handset, free map updates, location based suggested services for food, eating out etc.
Have never regretted getting the 5800XM and this is now the cherry on top
Oh yes, Garmin still runs fine, and so does NDrive, but Ovi Maps rock.
Done. Works well, looks good, and lives in tandem with my copy of the other GPS software I have. It removed the old copy of Ovi Maps, of course. So who is going to try it first to make sure it doesn't delete/interfere with any 'ahem' other GPS software on the phone
Maybe i play with my phone much more than most people on here but i have a big issue with memory cards and the tube. Sparklehorse mentioned it could be the way the phone handles fat32. I do love the phone and play with it constantly, best phone i've ever had by far
