I bought a 6680 yesterday that has the same firmware as your below. So far I have been very impressed. Pairs with the car bluetooth perfectly and I was able to connect to the Internet with no problems. Happy so far...

re:Nokia 6680 Firmware

Mine is
V 3.04.37
01.06.05
RM-36

I had some issues with my previous version where I was unable to transfer via Bluetooth. Works like a bomb now.

My bluetooth problems are worse than on the old firmware

Vodafone branded - removed the stuff as quick as possible! :D

PC-Suite in box doesn't want to backup the phone, anyone have luck with the newer version?

Nokia 6680 - a piece of dung

V3G,

I saw plenty of complaints about the 6680 on this forum. Guess I should have listened. But I wanted EDGE, so I got it anyway.

This thing is truely up to ****. The problems are to many to list.

What version of firmware are you using? I've got 3.04.37.

Any contact with Nokia to sort this out?

Considering that I've always been a Nokia fan, I feel truely let down!

Another one caught in the 6680 bubble. I feel *with* you biometrics. lots of crap with my 6680 as well

Firmware on mine currently:
V 3.04.37

Upgraded from whatever else before that, but it didn't fix any of the problems

EDIT: Oops, I lied. it did fix one thing: it actually updates the missed calls and received calls lists now without having to reboot the phone

what problems do you guys have ?
I run the same firmware and I don't have any issues.

Let's see if I can remember a few:

1. Battery low, so I plug in the charger and the OS crashes, requiring reset
2. OS crashed yesterday when I answered a call
3. After trying the mail client and trying to clear our the message headers it wouldn't connect again. On restart it told me "phone startup failed. contact retailer" - i.e. refused to start. Had to reformat it.

There's more (can't remember now), I'll keep a log here ...

Updates:
4. Could not make any internet connections with Nokia PC Suite version 6.6. Loaded 6.5 and I could make a connection with bluetooth but not USB. After the reformat mention in 3 above I could now make connections with USB as well.
5. Opera often does not work. Says connecting to server and then nothing. Reload has no effect. Then other times it works just fine.
6. Battery low, so I connect the charger. It doesn't charge.

From the most awaited phone on this forum, to the phone that seems to be giving some forumites the most headaches :(.

v3g, is it possibly to escalate these issues with Nokia?

We did, as discussed somewhere in another 6680 thread. There is a new firmware version available, 4.04.07

The 6680 is a very popular phone and it seems you either get a fully functional one, or end up with all the problems as in bio's case.

I use most of the features on mine and, in general, it's stable.

ic, maybe you could collapse all the various 6680 threads into one sticky?

I got 2 of them. Same version 3.04.37. Mine works great, my wife's won't connect via bluetooth to my PC but does nicely so with my 6680.

Guess it is a luck shot :-)

Today, while Vodacom internet went for a loop, I tried to connect to MTN via USB. For the first time it failed and would not connect to either GPRS or 3G. I then, after an hour, copied the file to MMC, setup email and sent it (from the phone itself) without a problem.

Apart from that I can call, receive, CHARGE without crashing, etc... I get very good signal quality and can talk where others can't.

Oh, just one anoying problem. After I have disconnected my bluetooth headset you can reconnect but no sound. I have to restart the phone. The sales guy at Autopage (avoid them at all costs !!) just looked at me and said:"Yeah, Nokias are known to do that". ...end of discussion.

VMS

Where can we get it?

btw, if I am having NO problems with my Nokia 6680, except the annoying jumping between GSM and UMTS... do I need to install 4.04.07
