ok, well then its no diverts... what firmware you running?

ok, you can start by upgrading that to the new version 4. If you are with Vodacom get to a Vodashop and get the software upgraded.

This should really help you ALOT

The problem is most definetly software related by the sound of your problem, corruption or part of the operating system thats just lost it. =/ You will need to most probably reload the software on the phone.

Vodacom 3G, anyone else we gladly welcome your point of view

Outgoing calls can also be prevented by subscriber/operator barring but more likely having activating CLIR on the handset when you have not been provisioned for the service. Most SA Sims are now provisioned with CLIR TempNRes i.e. Temporary not restricted i.e. the subscriber has the ability to restrict the A-number on a per call basis. If this is not the case any outgoing call will just drop.

Check Tools\Settings\Call\Send my caller ID=set by network although I don't think this is the problem as it will not affect incomming calls. The number busy on incomming calls seems to indicate a problem with the bearer services on you Simm card. Phone problem is also a possibility but for all we know your phone could be blacklisted.

Ta. Works great.

What is "Active Standby"

Active standby is the shortcut menu bar that offers an addition 5 shortcut blocks and the next to calendar entry display below where the cell broadcast is displayed. It prevents the cell broadcast from being permanently displayed

I am still on the old firmware and havnt really had the tme to go somewhere to get V4... anybody out there got V4 and can say its really worth it? I dont currently have any problems with my phone, except that it jumps bettween 3G and GSM, but every other phone that has 3G does that in my area (Motoroal E1000 aswel)

I've upgraded mine and so far it's behaving.

According to the info, the newer firmware is supposed to help with the reselect situation, so it's probably a good idea to upgrade when you have a spare hour or two.

does the firmware upgrade wipe any information from your phone? or does it just upgrade and not re-install

Actually, you only loose the stuff in your phones memory. The memory card is untouched. Though I had to reinstall AgileMessenger to get it to work. The rest was fine.

Btw, the shop will tell you you need to leave the memory card installed and that it will be erased. Not in my case though. But best to backup ...

I saw something about version 4? I waited 4 hours at Vodashop Menlyn only to get V 3.04.37 01-06-05 RM-36.

Why?

Why did you see something about v4?
or
Why did you wait 4 hours?
or
Why did you get V3.04?

Rather:

Why did you not check how long it would take?
Why did you not ask beforehand what version they've got?

Why do you post abrasive, rhetorical questions? You surely can't expect anyone to answer such a posting?

Can you upgrade the firmware yourself via a USB cable ?
No idea what mine is running, got it a month back. Good phone, altho the camera is a bit of a let down.

you did :D

a. I did ask. They said 2 hours. That is why I am unhappy with 4 hours.
b. They said it would be the latest - seems it is not.

You assume to much.

Have now read through this entire thread from #1, after suggestion by vodacom3g to me on another thread that I consider using a 6680 for 3G access. I wanted to use a data card, but my laptop (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M1450G) only has an express card slot. Fascinating reading! I have particularly enjoyed getting to know the various characters involved! I am very impressed with the degree of knowledge displayed and the quality of assistance rendered. I am pretty sure now that this is the route I will go. One question though: when obtaining the phone from a Vodashop (as I will probably do), is it necessary to check straight away in the shop that the firmware is latest?

Wow, the whole thread? I believe this is the longest thread on the Vodacom 3G forum.

Good idea to check the firmware. On the phone type: *#0000#

Once you get home, it's a good idea to download the latest Nokia software as well.
