They must have it. It's been released to them a few weeks ago and a lot of people have already upgraded. Insist that they get it.

The SAIX / IS thing is going away with a consolidated SAIX architecture.

Thanks v3g

Thanks for your speedy reply i'm going in today to check if they have it yet will let you know later if i got it or not.

Hi guys

I'm a noob wrt to phones 'n stuff. I have a 6680 which I like a lot. Problem is though that I cannot connect it via USB to my desk PC. My desk PC at work's only got USB 1.1. The PC sees the phone, and contacts and appointmens from Outlook updates to the phone nicely, but when I try transferring songs/pictures to the phone, I get a message ( ont the PC ) stating " Unable to connect to phone ". This happens in both Explorer and Nokia PC Suite.

Any1 knows how to fix this.

Oh ! Afterthought : for some reason I'm unable to send multimedia messages as well.

On the desktop software; try and download the latest version from the Nokia site and install that. It's not been the most stable of packages around.

On sending MMS; make sure you have the setting on your phone for MMS. Easiest is to either download them to your phone (over the air) via www.vodacom4me.co.za or give the call desk a call and ask them to send it to your phone.

i went to vodashop menlyn to check if they got the new software, after standing in a queue for about 30min i was helped by a girl which knows nothing about celphones aparently, she told me they have v5.3, so i asked her to check with the techies which version they have and she asured me they have v5.3, so i asked her just to make sure. She came back and told me they only have v3, so i asked to speak to a manager to find out when they will have v4, the manager wasn't there, so i spoke to a supervisor which then informed me she can't help me cause she's works at the sales section and not at vodacare. She told me she'll have the manager phone as soon as he's back which she said will be in about an hour, it's now almost 3 hours later and still no phone call. i would appreciate it if you can provide me with a email adress where i can formaly complain about this unsatisfactory service. thnx

Hi,

You can PM me your complaint and I'll forward it for you. Also include an e-mail and I'll copy you on the mail. Tell the whole story, all the times you went there etc.

I got a 6680 today....its doing the charge thing.

Is it true that VLive will not be able to be loaded on my 6680 ever?

YES ITS TRUE.. You're NOT ABLE to upgrade a "vanilla 6680 / speaking phone 6680" to a VodaPhone Live..

In an e-mail send out a month or two ago to VodaShops & Vodacares they inform the staff that they should tell customers they are unable to upgrade it to VLive since it leads to massive unstability & a load of other errors on the phone.

VodaShops are franchise Driven. You should call 111 and ask for the Franchise Supervisor number in the area.

I went to Vodacare in Tygervalley and they told me the only way to get the version 4 firmware is to send my phone to Joburg and then I'd have to wait two weeks to get the phone back. Did any of your guys try those videotones from exactmobile when I use it as a ringtone it only rings soft and the phone does not vibrate. One more thing is there any way to play video recorded on a Samsung D600, which records in mp4 format, on a 6680?

They send it to ARC { Advance Repair Centre } Which has a 10 DAY TURN ARROUND TIME. Vodacom policy is, if you don't have our phone back in 10 days, they must replace it.

Guess this was a useless information moment

I'm having a weird one with my 6680, in that every 4th or 5th time I get in my car the same day, it will not connect to my bluetooth carkit till I restart the phone. Nothing else helps. Software version is V3.04.37, which Nokia Woodmead put on for me now in Jan. Isn't that old software???

A vanilla 6680 can be ugraded to VLive without a problem. It's the same hardware, so the VLive version is just a different firmware. I've upgrade my own 'vanilla' 6680 to VLive without any hassles.

Also, the phones don't need to go away. Took my 6680 to Canal Walk and they upgraded it on the spot.

Unproudlysa, won't you PM me the mail sent out?

Hey Poizon,

Check out my posts relating to the Bluetooth problems I have with my 6680. Sounds very similar to yours. I upgraded my firmware to the same one you have now, and I still have the same problems. If I can get the freakin' thing to actually do a backup without rebooting the phone, I'll take it in for the v4 upgrade

But Nokia is an independent company the last I checked? Just because they are in a certain complex, they are barred from supporting they own products? Sounds very bloody South African to me...

Nokia in south arfrica RF Group if you have a problem with your phone ne1 can take it to them from ne network, nokia in vodaworld is OWNED by EXACTMOBILE which probably has an agreement not to work on other networks cellphones
