Nashua Mobile has just updated it's website for the month of May, and guess what, still no Nokia 6680 on there...

Can't wait for the 6680

The other 3G phones are a bit too bulky for me. This is the only thing keeping me from getting Vodacom3G. Wish the phone would get approved already :)

As a matter of interest, if I were to purchase the phone from another country, will VodaCom / Nokia provide support for it re. firmware updates when it eventually gets approved in SA ?

Thanks!

Doesn't the N6680 also come out with the Opera mobile browser? It does a good job on my 6600 rendering plain webpages - as long as you know the page well (i.e., know where what is located). Pages that you don't know looks very confusing.

I don't know about the WAP 2.0/ HTML multimode browser - perhaps they decided to incorporate the two (wap & 'normal internet'). Hope this helps?

you can get a the opera browser for series 60, but you have to pay for it...

What the heck is going on here? At least two posts newer than the one above have been deleted off the forum. Is this censorship or a bug?

But the reason I came here, as I do EVERY SINGLE DAY, is to see if there's any news on the release of the Nokia 6680.

Vodacom3G, as the most reliable source of Vodacom-related information, have you heard anything futher?

There are currently technical problems with the forum. RPM is working on it.

Ok, so it is the 16th of May, past the middle of May and does anybody have new information on the Nokia 6680?

Why do I get the feeling that we will only be seeing this Nokia 6680 by the end of June, that is if we are lucky...

hey FrikkieMeyer.

I too have been waiting for the "imminent" arrival of the nokia 6680.
As a last resort I've been contacting any online stores I can find to ask when they might be expecting delivery.

The following is a response I got from expansys.
"We are expecting the Nokia 6680 to be with us on the 19/05/05"

Lets hope this is some sort of indication as to when the other stores may be getting delivery.

There are two internet sites that I know of where you can buy the Nokia 6680 from. www.Expansys.co.za and www.CaCell.co.za, I think that the Nokia 6680 is already available from CaCell.co.za.

I think that we might be seeing the Nokia 6680 by the end of this month...

Expansys is based in Manchester. If you order from them, you will be importing the phone.

Not sure if Nokia South Africa (rfgroup) will support you on this. A friend of mine was given a flat-out 'no' when he brought a phone in from the Ukraine.

Very odd as the warranty is international unless the phone was out of warranty period or not listed on the Nokia DB as a valid phone.

I know that if you take a Nokia phone to the Nokia Service Center in Vodaworld they will scan in the phone and then all it's history comes up there on the computer screen. If the phone wasn't bought from Vodacom, either on a contract or on Pay-As-You-Go, then they will not accept it.

A friend of mine took his Nokia 6600 to the Nokia Service Center in Vodaworld to have it repaired, but it was a MTN phone, they scaned it and saw that it wasn't a Vodacom phone, gave the phone back to my friend and said they can't work on the phone.

Agreed. Vodaworld was under fire for them doing repairs this way and closed off to Vodacom clients only. However the direct support centres do however repair phones irrelevant of network.

I find this a very idiotic way of doing repairs. I go to a NOKIA or SonyEricsson service repair center to get my NOKIA or SonyEricsson phone repaired, NOT my VodaCom/MTN phone.

If I were on VodaCom I'd go to VodaCare. VodaCare can close off repairs to only Vodacom phones. Then they might as well close all the repair centers in VodaWorld and just make it one big VodaCare.

After a bit of pressure from a certain user group, Vodacom decided to release the 'normal' 6680 and not to wait for the V-Live! version. As soon as I have details on stock, etc. I'll post here.

Will you still be able to use the Video Call and Video Streaming functions if the phone is not a V-Live phone?

What is this V-Live thing more than a nice way of downloading news, information and cool stuff for you phone? Will you be able to use the V-Live service with a normal non V-Live Nokia 6680?
