Yeah I know I'm giving up a beast in the N4, even if its a few years old already, but still handling like a dream. I don't know, I'm also looking at the 1520, but think I'm going to wait and see what Microsoft does in the next few months.

Take a look at the 930 and 830 maybe :)

I have been using this phone for a while now, And i have to say im impressed. The phone is super smooth and has never frozen on me. Even though the screen is only 720p, its very good, i might be wrong, but i doubt you will be able to see a difference between a HD wallpaper on a 1080p and this 720p screen. The detail of the pictures are just brilliant. It does look shyt in sunlight though.

The battery is also a pleasure, with extreme heavy use, it lasts ± a day and a half.
With normal use it makes 2 to 3 days easily.

You also get use to the live tile screen, at first i did not like it, but i'm used to it now and quite enjoy it. Im not a huge fan of IE, but the IE on this Lumia is good

So Let me put it like this

Pro’s
Screen is good
Super Smooth
IE is quite pleasurable
Fantastic battery life
Love the MS migration between devices

Con’s
The touch sensitivity/accuracy is not that of an IPhone.
The lack of basic apps. ABSA is an absolute must for me, luckily IE opens the ABSA website 100%
MS should put pressure or offer help to the big app players like FB, it’s absolutely a horrible APP, i get notifications for the biggest load or horse ****, and when you try to check, its gone....
The Camera is not great, but also not horrible, its pretty average.

The screen is huge, im not sure if this is a Pro or a Con, personally i like phones that has screens no bigger than 5”, but since working on the 6” monster, im not sure i will be able to move to something smaller, you lose the ability to work the phone with one hand, but it’s a pleasure working on such a big screen, especially if you browse allot.

The 1520 cost about double what the 1320 costs, Personally i don't think the 1520 is worth double the price.

Lament. Please report if your phone also suffers from a "heat" issue after prolonged use. Especially data use or gaming etc. It seems it's quite common if I Google it, but I haven't found any solutions as of yet.

Thanks.

Hi Terra
I don't play games, but have found if i browse like 2 hours straight it does get pretty warm. But it seems like it does not have an effect on the battery or performance so it does not bother me that much. Even now as im typing this, its pretty warm on the top right corner.

Thanks. Mine also has that issue at the same area. It does get pretty hot though at times if I push the phone, but it never lags or turns off or anything.

I've increased my phone's performance considerably by removing any limitations on apps that can run in the background. I've allowed my entire catalog of programs to run in the background, including all Microsoft/Nokia apps. The performance increase was evident a few hours afterwards. I used to have a spike here and there, even on Tapalk when I typed, like I'm typing now and all that has gone away. My apps launch almost instantly and I haven't had any lag or freezes.

The battery life took a slight knock, but nothing I can't live with.

I had it running on mine (no idea what build no. it was) and I wasn't impressed. I would get random freezes when unlocking the screen, battery life took a nosedive and it generally felt like it needed a lot more work. I went back to Denim eventually

Unfortunately the 1320 isn't on the list of supported phones for Windows 10 mobile insider preview any longer. AFAIK the reason for slimming the list down was based on negative user feedback on some models, such as my Lumia 720. I was left high and dry on a specific release, with no official release coming and had to go back to 8.1.

Was looking for the cheapy Android phone with Gyroscope as secondary phone and discovered Xaomi Phones and ended up getting a Mi4 and loving it. I'm gonna miss my awesome battery life of my 1320 and screen size too but Microsoft needs to get the Sh@t together. Just feels like empty promises. The Official Windows 10 phone is still broken, Continuum is great idea but also broken. All my favourite Office apps are available on Android so what else is keeping me here :crying:. Third party developers already gave up on them so why should I go down with their sinking ship.

I feel Holowlens apps will also just run the same course. I'm not willing to invest in a new high end Windows device and wait around for them to fix their bugs.

Hopefully the Android OS will save the Nokia brand but I don't see a bright future Windows Phone.

So your whole beef is due to a 3year old phone not getting proper support.. go figure

You would have had to buy 2, possibly 3 android phones by now to get the latest android version without going custom roms/rooting etc.

Have a 435, 640, 2x 950xl. All of which run 100% with no reboots/freezing/lag/battery drain issues. One of the 950's is on insiders preview and also do not suffer from any issues.

Only possible issue I can think of is what everyone knows, android = games, windows 10 mobile = business oriented for now

I understand that that my phone does not support Win 10 mobile officially and that not my issue. My office App works works great and like the idea off syncing my data between devices but that's where it ends. You can do that with android too. So there's nothing that sets them apart.

A close friend owns a 950 and as much as he hates to admit it he says the OS is not perfect and still needs work. The few handsets that work flawlessly will not be enough to encourage 3rd party developers. Some apps that worked on Windows 8 Phone stopped working when upgraded to official 8.1 just goes to show that much developers really care.

From a developer's perspective.
Development is targeting both Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile, there is no point on focusing on one.
Windows 10 Mobile is business orientated now, so business needs come first, so it's reasonable to assume your friend feels the OS unpolished.

Another point is, there's no monetary value in Windows 10, the only devs targeting it are those that are receiving revenue elsewhere and that have a passion for it.

The platform itself is easy to dev for but there's no user base and your income comes from your user base.

Would help to know why he thinks it still needs work. Smooth, fast and hardly ever needs rebooting. My 950 works great.

The phone has an awesome camera, GPS, email, weather, internet/cloud access and the business apps I need. So I don't have all the latest games and trendy apps, but the important ones or equivalents are there. I have a phone UI that does not look dated, I can easily view the inportant data via live tiles and it's easy to find/search for installed apps as I don't need to go looking on multiple pages. Neither do I have to worry about viruses, malware and such like.

Sure I would love a greater selection of apps, but the W10M UI still wins me over.

Me too. Android and iOS are clunky in comparison.

A few months ago I thought it's time too look elsewhere and got a Nexus 6P. I really tried to make the break and move with the majority.

But I'm back to the 950 LX running W10M 1607. It's like a breath of fresh air using a modern UI instead of the antique static icons grid.

Keen to see how the reviewers find the HP x3 Elite. Really miss the six inches on the 1520.
