Hi -

I'm thinking of purchasing a 720 on MTN contract for R249 per month.

The phone will be used for the occasional phone-call (average less than one per day) and maybe an app or two, e.g. Skype.

Being a C# developer I'll [probably] eventually end up writing an app or two simply for fun.

Quite frankly my N95 does all that I require :)

Any comments / suggestions appreciated.

Are you back from the shop yet? The 720 seems to be the most viable of the bunch, especially because it has the strongest battery. I've also dabbled in WP development with the emulator, great fun for a c# dev :D Check out this introduction by @roguemat on WP dev.

Visited MTNSP in Sandton City ... the only 'phone that they didn't have was the 720 ... <sigh>

If you find someone who has stock please let me know. Been looking for one for quite some time now :(

MTN in Rosebank Mall claim that they can supply 720s.

Like the model-T Ford: "... in any colour you like so as it's black." :)

BTW cash price is R3,654, which makes the R249 on contract a good deal.

Fairly reasonable considering the 620 is R2,999 which is what was posted on another thread the other day.
I thought they'd add a full R1,000 over and above the 620's price.

Hopefully in 6-months they'll all be sitting with a lot of stock they need to get rid of, and knock about R500 or more of the price of each.

Woah, will give them a call tomorrow.Nokia was charging R4500 vs Voda's R5699(with cover and charger though) Seems everyone only has black when I'm looking for the Red :(.
How you liking yours? Did you get one?

The MTN deal comes with the charging cover & plate. I hope to purchase tomorrow ...

Thanks for the heads up on the MTN deal. I may pick up one as well (if Blueroute has stock, they aren't answering their phone).

MTN Cresta and Sandton aren't answering either. Confirmed the price though @ R3560.

Hyde Park, JHB CBD - Dont Have.
Rosebank has stock but only for contract customers

MTN Blueroute - Have 1 (black) contract only. Went into almost every shop in the mall - no luck. The guy at Allpage even told me the phone had been discontinued.

Edit: Vodacom want R6000 for the phone. I did find one 620 at Markhams for R2900, but that doesn't seem worth it.

Alright I'm done. Very disappointed that I have to get a R3000 phone for R6000.Nokia I'm sorry to say; have screwed themselves in SA

If you are referring to the 720 the R6,000 is Vodacom's price: MTN is quoting R3,564 with charging plate etc.

Unbuyable. You can't get the 720 from MTN on prepaid, only on contract. Apparently Ihave to wait 3 months until I'll be able too :wtf:
Vodacom while being extravagant allows you to buy the handset on prepaid but for the R6000 price. Nokia apparently have increased their prices aswell to R6000 from me calling yesterday to this afternoon.

Well MTN haven't told their staff 'cos I talked about purchasing the 720.

OTOH - given MTN's track record - it's not really unusual I suppose.
