Nokia Lumia 720

Could you Screenshot the chat button, can't find it anywhere. Let me know if you find one :)
Richard offered the chat actually with a message along the lines of "I see you've spent some time browsing the site, is there anything we can assist with".

There is a "Chat with us!" tab at the bottom right of the screen. I use IE10 mostly, but the tab is there in Chrome too.

What do you think of the phone so far?

Still trying to get it going <sigh>

My original SIM was several years old & very thick, so I eventually ended up purchasing a new SIM at R136.80 ...

Now, nearly two hours later, I still don't have any service ... and the flat plate charger isn't charging ...

So, apart from setting the time - and removing the permissions to send details of my life to the mothership (i.e. Microsoft) - not much progress thus far ...

Please keep us posted.

@Andre, Bfore let me know that they do have the 720 but it just isn't on the site yet. Price at R3670. Will keep you posted.

@Pho3nix - thanks for the update. I can't make up my mind which model to get - 620,720 or 820, but I'm leaning towards the 820.

@rrh: I know I'm going to have the same hassle with SIM card. I was told one could purchase a new starter pack at Voda for a few Rand and ask for a transfer of your old number to the new SIM (I use Vodacom).

Spoke to MTNsp. They say that the new SIM could take as long as 24 hours to 'regenerate' - whereas the ladies in the shop said one hour ...

I've currently given up on the wireless charging and am using the USB cable. It may be a setting ?

Located a user manual - they're everywhere but on the Nokia website  - so I'm busy printing that to read in bed ...

MTN rip off everything ...

@rrh: Do you mind checking if data access from the service provider can be completely disabled and only WiFi used? I use my old iPhone 3 this way all the time. I've heard a few horror stories of certain apps that use up a lot of data even if the phone is idle.

Have you downloaded everything from the app store yet?

Edit: I found the setting to disable data in the SDK phone emulator

According to the manual one can turn on & off independently (a) Wi-Fi and (b) Mobile Network (Data Connection) .

I haven't downloaded any apps as yet.

PS: My whole house is wired with CAT5e 'cos I hate wireless networks. Now I have to purchase a wireless router just for the damn 'phone :)

 hows the thickness of the phone?

The still-not-function charging cover adds about 4mm and a slightly more curved feel.

Total depth of the still-not-connected phone (with charging cover) is about 12mm.

Overall 'tis good.

@Pho3nix: Check gumtree.co.za - I saw a 720 for sale, but don't know if its close to you. I'm going to get me a brand new boxed 920 tomorrow at R4000 if all goes well.

Saw one on gumtree. Don't want to buy a contract phone of Gumtree because if a the person stops paying the phone gets blacklisted. 920 is too big for me. I'm so impatient I might just get it at Vodacom.
Oh, if you do get the 920 and need a wireless charger PM me. Might sell mine.

Lost out on the R4000 rand deal for the 920, sold. Now going to try another seller for R4500.

Got tired of waiting and got a white one. Great phone and looks/feels amazing. Will post pics in the morning :)
@Andre, let us know if you eventually get that 920.
