Keep in mind you need to pay a yearly fee to get access to publish on the marketplace and have your phone dev unlocked. If you're a student its free via dreamspark.
 
Heard some dodge things about excellular unfortunately. Saw someone selling it on BidorBuy for R3.9k I think. Might just import it seeing as how it's R3000 in the US currently.

I intend to go contract, but will ask if the 720's are available for direct purchase.
 
Coolness. Might have found a reputable company to assist in sourcing the 720. Local stock with warranty. Just waiting on pricing :D
 
Hmm, googling "excellular site:mybroadband.co.za" seems to indicate that excellular are okay and it looks like they have a rep that is a forum member.

Thanks for the heads-up: I misunderstood the requirement of registering before unlocking. OTOH, at R350/year not too bad ...

$99 corporate; $49 individual.

Microsoft also break the $49 down by country - hence the R350: they must be feeling guilty about how much they rip off ZA when it comes to Office, VS etc. !!

Bfore.co.za. They sell contract phones from MTN and Vodacom cash. Sent them a mail asking them to try source the phone for me.
Excellular does seem to have great hellopeter ratings, wonder where I got the impression they weren't on the level. Saw the 820 yesterday and it's a tad too big for my liking. 620 is awesome but too chubby.

I just looked at Excellular's Hellopeter listing this morning and the latest post has me worried. Also they have not responded to a query I sent last night.

I'm thinking to just go and pick up the 620 I saw at Markhams for R2900 (a little cheaper than Bfore.co.za).

On the other hand, the 820 and 920 have 1Gig RAM meaning they can run any Store app and 50% more CPU frequency.

Having a quick chat with Richard on the Bfore site...

Forgot to ask about the 720 since I was looking at the 820, but you can pop into chat on the site and ask him.

Just called Markhams to confirm the 620 price - it is R2999 in white only. They say that some of their other branches may have received stock of the 720, but couldn't tell me the price.

Edit: Got Cavendish branch hunting for stock of 720 for me.

Upgraded this morning after signing more documents than when I purchased my house ... <sigh>

The 720 will be sold at the quoted price of R3,564 though not at present: currently it's contract only @R249/month on Anytime 100

As with Ford model T's: any colour you like - so long as it is black :)
