Nokia N9 in SA soon

ah, if only it could run android apps! pity such a great phone (hardware and os design) is going to suck due to a lack of apps.

You did read the part about MeeGo and the part about 1GB RAM, 1Ghz CPU, 16GB ROM, 64GB Storage, 8Mpix camera?

1st good phone for Nokia for a while. I really hope Meego takes off an OS that can compete with Android and IOS will be good for the consumer no matter what device you use

+1, I was disappointed that Nokia gave up on Meego and switched to M$ WP7.

If Nokia could match the sales of N9 in Finland (sold out), in the rest of the world, then they would have a real winner.

Based on the high demand for the N9,
I bet that Stephen M$ Elop must be having second thoughts on the decision to can MeeGo and partner with his old company.

He said NOKIA is so last decade, not the N9. But I say the N9 is so last year, those specs are somewhat outdated now. Would've been killer a year ago, to rival HTC desire, iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S. The market has since moved on, with dual core processors, full HD recording, HDMI output, and much more.

I still rate the N9 as a current high end phone.

HTC Evo 3D anyone?
Just imagine if you splashed a wad of cash on this smartphone bragging to your friends
about it and then at that moment somebody takes out an HTC Evo 3D and starts taking
3D pics and recording 3D vids....
Nokia N9 user = :mad::(
HTC Evo 3D owner = :D

So yeah, Nokia N9 soooooo last year
 
Nokia is too late to market with this phone. Sad.

If that's what a phone is about why not just buy a big, gold chain and a car with huge rims?
 
All-screen swipe design, single polycarbonate construction, Dolby Headphone, NFC... In terms of innovation, Nokia is still winning. Watch some N9 YouTube vids and then decide what looks slicker and more "next-gen", Meego or Android? Nokia, so last decade... I think not :D

Your comment would have made sense if Kahuna's post was about how much better the Evo 3D looks.

Feature wise: the Evo 3D beats the N9.
As far as apps are concerned: developers are not going to bother supporting a platform that's dead on arrival. Thanks Elop!
Regarding looks (your big rims analogy) : they're about the same.
 
Hopefully Alien Dalvik will save N9 wrt apps, if that actually happens there would be no reason not to buy this phone, its design is amazing! I still believe Nokia makes the best hardware, Symbian was just never up to the touch screen era

My post is more about the 'bragging rights' aspect of his post.

As for this phone, I honestly hope no 'apps' (mini-vomit) come out for it. I can go to facebook.com, linkedin.com etc. on the phone's browser myself and don't need help taking 5 photos in a row or have a need for fart/bongo/cymbal noises on my phone. Don't need an 'app' to have email, calling, messaging, browsing and GPS.

Big selling points: A well thought out OS, a great design (the curved screen is pretty clever) and the fact that most BB/iPhone users won't switch to it :)

Of course, this is all personal preference but I shudder every time I hear someone tell me "Get an iPhone, it has so many apps".

agreed regarding the fart/bongo apps being a waste of time. Also agree that the phone should provide decent email/calling/messaging out of the box (although this doesn't always happen)

The things that make apps interesting for me are games and added features,
for example being able to sign a pdf via my touch screen and email it
instead of having to print it, sign it, and then either scan it back into digital form to email it, or fax it.
