Nokia N95 @ Vodacom??

you know... i do believe i'm going to de-brand my phone when i get home!!! hee hee hee!!!

just the thought of putting everything back onto my phone is a little daunting.... amazing how much stuff you put on it in a week and a half!!!

tho most of it is on my memory card....

just the phonebook and calendar that's the real issue...
 
TrueTenacity - I just want to reiterate a warning I posted a little while back. When I was researching the unbranding methods, I came across reports that some N95 users turned their N95's into very expensive paperweights by doing a restore after changing the product code and reflashing. I did not restore - my N95 was unbranded right out the box, with nothing loaded or backed up. I cannot say to you that you will have a problem, just that there are unconfirmed reports floating around that it has happened, so it just a word of caution.
 
Shot for the heads up buddy... I have been reading those reports too...

Wasn't intending to do a restore that way, was going to just do it the old fashioned way.... write it all down.... then put it back manually...
 
N95 Firmware Upgrade

Just One Stupid Question: When One Does A Firmware Upgrade, Can U Use The Same Phone To Connect To The Net In Order To Download The Upgrade, Or Do U Need Another Internet Connection?
 
You need another Internet connection, preferably broadband. The upgrade for the N95 was about 130Mb and on ADSL it took about 45 minutes. The handset is for all intensive purposes dead during the reflashing.

You aren't alone - I pop into my local MTN store every 2 days (quicker than phoning them) and still nothing. Also on the list at Canal Walk (it is truely quicker to drive from Strand to there, than to wait for them to answer their phone :( )

On the bright side Sonic, by the time we get our phones, they might have already released an official SA firmware ugprade ;)
 
Anyone from MTN Headoffice that knows about stock availability ? I just phoned central warehouse, they are checking, but their system shows my branch is supposed to have received stock, and my branch says no... ? But warehouse is checking to see what is going on, but theeeen, the phone cut out right after he took my number......

Piesang, I would love to know how your buddy got hold of one in this month, I've been given the run around with this phone, the latest, and this comes from retentions dpt, is middle June is the expected date from nokia. :mad:

I hope this is as they say, the "second batch" that this one is updated and everything is perfect. I saw on another site, (girly site) that in UK or US (not sure) they got one in pink, with BT headset, speakers...... My wife would simply love one of those...

By buddy is a corporate at Old Mutual. What he do precisely I don't know, but it seems that corporate tend to get the phones a bit quicker. Mine is almost a month old now.;)
 
I got a Vodacom 4U booklet delivered to my door with some specials...

So I flip thru the thing expecting to see a HUGE pic of an N95 somewhere... alas I find a tiny pic on the 2nd last page, instantly recognisable as I would recognise my son :)

Un4tUnately the cash price is over R8100!!!!
And contract offers they only showed the talk 500 and talk 1000, price is around R1600 I think, package dependant.

Sad sad news... but I'll wait :o

Sounds like Voda is going through the same !#$% as MTN when N95 came out, some shops had, some sold out, some didn't know what I was talking about, some even claimed the phone was still being tested. Now, it's just the different versions of why they don't have any.
