...ad on TV is soooo cute!!! Its obviously not made in SA but an international version, moar please :)

i think its looks here that make the difference and the slide novelty but ya u right again, the two phones are a year apart yet almost identical...

i have to say though, why did nokia drop the xenon flash, does it make such a difference? And did they perhaps drop the xenon flash cause they managed to get the same result with a regular flash or whatever they using now on the new Nokias?

My understanding is that manufacturers have a concern about battery life with the use of a xenon flash compared to LED. It sucks a lot more juice to power a xenon. I, out of habit, always charge my phone anyway even if not needed, so I am not able to comment on this effect.

Didn't they start using dual led's in the new phones?

Yip, the N96 does have dual LEDs but still has nothing on Xenon. Also read this about the N96 camera on GSM Arena :

Just a quick glance at the text on Nokia N96 lens is enough to tell us that its sensor has been downgraded. It shows a focal length of 5.2, while Nokia N95 8GB has a focal length of 5.6. Having in mind that both handsets have the same angle of view this clearly indicates that a smaller sensor has been used in Nokia N96. The photos also come to confirm this.

The picture quality of Nokia N96 is decent but, much to our surprise, not as good as any of the Nokia N95 versions. It is quite obvious that a smaller sensor have been used in Nokia N96 resulting in a reduced dynamic range. The handset also has a strong tendency to overexpose photos which brings in quite prominent highlight clipping. The clipping of a single color channel, resulting in loss of detail is also quite common.

So this seems to be justifying my questioning as to why the N96 is getting so much attention and yet the N82 got so little.... it seems it really is all about looks nowadays... ;)

....well I will happily not follow that trend and rather get the phone that has the most, and best, features with no concern about the looks! :)

AND after seeing the post below over R100 per month cheaper!!!!!! ;)

It doesn't matter what thread is started in this section, you will always hear about Lancelot and he's N82.

And it appears that Piesang has the need to start a stack of threads to sing the (inaccurate) praises of the N96.

I also wonder why you felt the need to dig up a 10 day old thread..... trolling?

Anyone on here that already received their N96?

I would really like some comment from people who actually used the phone. As we all know most reviews are based on one persons opinion.

I on the other hand like to get the opinions of a few people. People that actually have first hand experience with the N96.
