Ridiculous, I don't see why they always "need" to pump out handsets that people "need"...Why don't they just focus on producing a FEW decent handset(s) that are able to adapt to requirements based on the software, oh wait, then they won't be able to milk people who always need the latest and greatest...*gmff*

I am sick an tired of hearing about them, they used to be my fav. brand, but they've proven again and again that they are only capable of coming up with -different- decent quality handsets instead of adapting to the times and improving the user experience by making use of software advancements. They're taking everyone for an expensive ride, 'cause you buy one of their handsets and a year later you're forced to "upgrade" since they don't support the "old" handset anymore.

They definitely dropped me as a consumer way back when they released the N-series (specifically the N80). What a useless piece of garbage, I was super chuffed to get that phone, less than a week after I had it I was bored sh1tless by it (not to mention the fact that I spent like 18 Hours in total, trying to find 3rd party apps for Symbian that DIDN'T suck complete monkey b@lls), two weeks later I was utterly irritated, and 2 years later I murdered 200 elderly people with a rusty hammer.

[Update] My view of Nokia: They always deliver because they never set the bar high.

Interesting, my final Nokia straw was also the N80. I was just as excited to get it - after years of being a faithful nokia user (it wasn't exactly cheap either). After only a few months of use, just trying to open an SMS took 5 seconds, not to mention trying to reply to it.

My next (and current) phone was a sony erricson K850i, which has great hardware and software but unbelievably irritating buttons. At least it is fast and responsive though.

Nokia aren't winning me back anytime soon.

HAHA...Yeah dude, glad to hear I'm not the only one to suffer through that horribly expensive handset/turd, but I thought "hmm...OK, it's probably just that specific model", but after the next models were released (N95 etc.) and I found out they'll still be using Symbian S60V3, I decided to stay away from them as long as possible. My friend has a "cheap" SE W-series, and it wipes the floor with the Nokia N-series.

A thousand bucks says: If they dropped those ridiculous model numbers, change it to cool sounding names and decreased the list to -at most- 10 handsets, they'll make more money.

My final straw was the n80 also, after only using nokia and going from a n95 to a n80(flaming can begin now) i just got irritated and then moved to the iphone best device ever

Happy N80 to iPhone convert aswell. Tried poking around on WinMO devices like the Omnia, but luckily my past experience with the N80 taught me well as to what to look for in a phone. Tried the 5800 a few weeks ago and it felt exactly as I thought it would, just another Nokia turd to "keep up" with the changes (altough, I will say this: the 5800 is much better than the S60v3 phones )

I've only had good service from all the Nokia phones I have owned over the years. 5110, 6610i (lightest of the bunch, stolen), 6600, 6131 and my current one, E51. The 6600 actually fell in a running stream once and wasn't any worse for wear when I retired it a year and a half later.

I'm not a Nokia fanboi at all, but if they represent what I need most in a phone, I will buy one of their products. I do agree, however, that it is silly to use a whole new model number to indicate a few minor changes.

Looking for a new business phone with qwerty keyboard - contacts, calendar, exchange sync, good call quality, long battery.
Samsung suck (current), Apple's to big, blackberry do not seem up to spec. So it's back to Nokia - I think.

I have to agree my last straw was also the N80 - Even since the N80 I can't see much progression in Nokia’s handsets. They just churn out the same phones with a different cover and new advert. Pretty sad that a company of their magnitude can't seem to keep up with the times. Even their recent touch screen phone I think was a dismal attempt.
