Now there's a sweeping statement. The Russians I spoke to are very savvy and aware. The difference being that they have seen both sides and accept that Stalin (a Georgian btw), for instance, did more good than harm. The space programme was set up in Kazakhstan (not Russia) and benefited that country. Radar sites in other countries (Uzbhekistan) ,a major naval port in Savastopol (Ukraine). Spreading the wealth maybe.

This forum is a sad reflection of how bad education in SA was and still is. People are only able to pick a max of 10 words from any piece of history and think thats what defines everything, and then some cant even do that properly.

Its all about your own prejudices and basically most of you will quote anything out of context to maintain that. Gotta love the internet.

In the same vein, Adolf Hitler was liberating Jews from central European
pogroms. No wonder Israel made Hitler a "Friend of the Jewish People"
together with Joe Stalin.

Vladimir Karpov former Soviet Colonel [of Military intelligence - GRU]:
”Khrushchev was allowed to kill 7 or 8 thousand „enemies”. He asked: “Please increase my quota to 17 000!”

That last interview is part of a documentary and Karpov is a well known, upper echelon figure from the old Soviet State.

Russia is the last remnant of the old pre-WW1 world. When the Tajiks, Uzbeks, Tartars, Kalmyks, and the 3 dozen other minorities finally decide they want independence - it will be no more.

It is. This thread resolves to those who back and support Communist totalitarian regimes (NK, China and Soviet Union) and those who oppose.

The relevancy is there.
 
May i ask what the UN condemning really achieves at the end of the day?

Are they going to attack North Korea should they continue to disobey their masters?
 
1. Bosintang (soup)

Dog Soup is called, Gaejang, Gajangkuk, or Gujang, Gujangaeng,
Guyoukgeng. It has been called Bosintang from the later part of 1940,but during
the period of the 1988 Olympic games, it was banned to use the name of
Bosintang, so its name was replaced by Youngyangtang, Sacheoltang,
Mungmungtang. But nowadays, the name of Bosintang is widely used instead
of Youngyangtang. Bosintang is made by boiling dog meat with thin soy paste,
tearing it into pieces, putting ingredients such as green onion, leek, stalk of taro,
brake into broth, and boiling it again to make Bosintang. In Kyungsang
province, to get rid of the smell, perilla purple are put in the soup. Perilla are
also used for ridding the smell. Taste of perilla is similar to that of dog, and
it becomes a good match to dog meat. Side dishes of dog meat are Kimchi,
fresh peppers, and cucumbers. Adding a glass of Soju(liquor) enhances the
taste.

The standard amount of ingredients for one portion.


(1) Ingredients

100g of boiled dog meat, 500g of gravy, 20g of green onion, 10g of a leek,
10g of perilla leaves, 100g of taro stalk soaked in water.

(2) Sauce

8g of salt, 2g of mashed garlic, 3g of perilla, 2g of red pepper, 2g of mashed
ginger, a little amount of pepper.

(3) Cooking instruction

After boiling the meat with gravy and stalk of taro for some time, boil again
after putting vegetables an d other ingredients into it. Before eating, sprinkle
pepper on it and put into an earthen bowl. The stalk of taro is to be kept in cold
water one or two days to get rid of its smell and taste.

Not much - unless you are trying to be a good guy. If you are a rogue state you don't care what the UN says. Or, the UN will never say anything because too many idiots get caught up in the protocol instead of dealing with the issue.

The UN doesn't attack anyone - although they may have participated in some rather aggressive defence in the past.

Well consider this. Japan and South Korea have no nukes but have a lot to loose. North Korea has nothing to loose but is building and testing nukes.
Japan and SK (and Taiwan and other nations) get upset when a weapon of mass destruction is tested in their backyard, not long before a missile was launched over their waters.

Is it not kinda of unfair for the democracies in the region to object to NK's posturing BS-- which we all known is designed to bully the West into more MONEY but the nukes and rockets are being built and being tested with no imminent threat to NK - except for the same SK and US Army which has been in SK since the end of the Korean War.

I agree, the NKs are not crazy - they are just using this to terrorize the
West into paying them off. This could of course backfire because Japan and SK may decide to build their own nukes and with the PAC-3 and Aegis systems developed in the US, Japan could decimate NK before they knew it was even coming.
