North West Seeks Name Change

North West province needs a name change, premier Thandi Modise said on Thursday.

Speaking in the provincial legislature in Mmabatho on her office's budget and policy, Modise said the province should no longer simply be a direction on a map.

"We cannot be a 'direction' or a position on the compass when we have [had the] calibre of leaders from our province like Malome Moses Kotane," she said.

"We celebrate this month in his name as a clear acknowledgement of how he continues to live among us through his teachings and practices, and take pride to be associated with a man of his calibre."

She said Kotane's wisdom and love for his people was inspiring, and encouraged the youth to learn more about him and other struggle heroes.

Public consultations would take place over the name change, Modise said.

Ok, Mr Premier, let me get this straight.

Your province is in absolute chaos, its basically a step away from limpopo, yet the most important thing on your agenda is the name, while you were busy changing all the afrikaans names, the excuses where that they "invoke the pain of apartheid", now that that excuse is used up, you have a problem with probably the least offensive name a province can have "North-West".

I wish the ANC sheep will wake up, and see what the people they have selected do, and what they spend their time on, If I'm not mistaken, didn't Marikana happen in your province just a couple of months ago? Isn't there a frightning amount of unemployment and poverty in your province? Yet, you want to spend Billions on changing a fscking name [let me guess, your sisters' cousin has a signage company !?]. Please wake up, and prioritise. There are much more important issues.

And for every single ANC voter in North West. Stop blaming apartheid, there is nothing apartheid can change or do to affect you today. You know who can help you out of the current poverty stricken situation? The guy that wants to waste millions of Rands changing a cosmetic name.

How many jobs can this change fund? How many houses/schools/clinics/training programs can this fund, things that will actually have an impact on peoples lives!!

Then ANC have abadoned "its" people, perhaps it is time to give someone else a chance, hell, you can always vote these useless guys back in power in 4 years/8 years if the new guys don't do the job. But stop complaing/protesting/buring things and then just run back to the ANC like a loyal little lap dog, and realize... YOU OWE THEM NOTHING.

WAKE UP SOUTH AFRICA !!!

I thought this as well. But then I realised that, except for the few roads leading into the province, there aren't really any "North West" signs. So even from a pillaging point of view it seems pointless to me.

I might be wrong though. What serious money can be made from changing a province's name?
 
Isn't Kim and Kanya calling there child North West. That's enough reason to change their name if you ask me. :D
 
I'm sure they can come up with something better than the "North-West" province. I've found it to be rather silly as well.
 
Ooh! They should rename it to "His-Excellency-Doctor-Jacob-Gedleyihlekisa-Zuma state". because that would be awesome and not stupid at all.
