"The original Sanral Act, section 27(5)b, already states that any person liable for toll who fails to pay is guilty of an offence and punishable on conviction with imprisonment for a period not longer than six months or a fine and is also liable on top of that to pay Sanral a civil fine. The new draft regulations put this civil fine at R1 500."

Try that you goddamn corrupt mother****ers. Just try that. I dare you.

I don't get it? Why only now, I mean they wanted to go live in 2011 already.

Wow the courts and prisons are going to in-out-dated if no one pays or registers how the hell are they going to prosecute 2mil+ people a month.....

Good luck to scamral!

Draft regulations published at the end of May, the third last step before everything is in place for e-tolling to commence, show the administrative cost of not buying an e-tag – to both the company collecting tolls and yourself.

It also puts in place the legal framework for criminal and civil processes to collect outstanding e-tolls and specifically mentions that the sending of an invoice is not a precondition for the South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) to start legal proceedings against you if you don’t pay.

So how do you contest anything, if you do not even have something to show?
I see a lot of unhappy people when this goes active ...

Exactly. Hier kom groot ***.

Er why is mybb publishing pro e-toll articles.I would rather you not publish junk like this that encourages people to register for the corrupt etoll system.

The implications of this system being successful are much larger than just paying for using a road.If we even remotely support or warm up to the idea of etolls we will be giving government the message that we are a bunch of lazy ignorant fools who don't know how to stand up for ourselves so go ahead and milk us in any way you can dream of.We will be milked for corrupt projects repeatedly hereafter until the economy can support it no more.

This etolling system must fail or the country is going to be dragged down by corruption from the top.

I'm an optimist and I believe our country can be great, but if we allow corruption on a large scale like this to exist we will fail miserably and be just another poor african country ravaged by the "clever" western governments and betrayed by our own people in power.

What he said .. :/

So when SCUMRAL decide to trace and prosecute all those illegal number plates even though it was not you how after 6months, or how ever long it takes them to trace you, are you going to prove it was not you on the freeway.

Guys will start looking for identical cars and colours and use those plates then you will be screwed!

What a load. So what happens if someone drives their car from Cape Town and passes some etolls driving through JHB for example?
They then have to go and find a kiosk in an unfamiliar place and give all those details to pay?
This is a monumental stuff up.

This system MUST fail, fortunately it is already well on it's own way to failure simply because of the ignorance and ineptitude of those trying to run it. ;)

So censorship is ok, as long as it helps you towards your ideal. That's good to know.
