So you want to jump in on a thread and bitch about us but yet you have no bloody clue on whats going on?

+1, he just came in to say how much better he is than everyone else even though he has no clue on the topic.

Wonder if they'd be able to clone the e-tags - e.g. 10 people on an etag identity - R450/10 = no problem

This is what I am worried about, my CT registration being used by some taxi in JB and since it sounds like SANRAL can just create a huge bill for me and then prosecute me without notifying me how would I deal with this? Can I then claim all the hours I have lost dealing with the issue back from them? What is this going to cost me in legal fees to sort out?

The second problem I have is if I go up to JB how do I actually avoid the tolls? Are the alternative routes going to be clearly marked or do I have to now try figure out some complicated back route to get around without having to get the etag?

A well placed blob of mud, dead bird or half a cat should fix this very easily...

I solemnly pledge to never in my life ever buy any form of e-tag and drive as far as is needed to avoid any kind of tolled road.

Legal experts please chime in. What if we all just paid our due tolls without tags within the grace period by making an eft into sanral but an amount thats, say, R12 more or less and then wait for them to prosecute. At which point we will all have proof of payments and they must pay for legal fees? In which case we can all hire the most expensive attorneys available!!! :D

Clone Cool E's etag on his bike at the MyBB Birthday bash (don't clone the etags from his taxis as those will be exempt from payment).

As a tourist from Namibia, be rest assured I will be giving the entire guateng region a miss, I would have no idea where these etoll thingys are, so to be safe I will rather just avoid the entire province and spend my holiday money in the Cape....

They're on the Highway Ring around Gauteng i.e. N1, N3, N12 and whatever other highway I missed out.
All lit-up in black lights like an 80's underground disco.

On another note, Lawyers - where does the Consumer Protection Act fit into all of SANRAL's shinanigans?

That will work for a while, but ****RAL has already revealed their master plan of trolling other provinces and eventually pretty much every road in the country will have these things unless the usually spineless Gautengers actually stand up against this nonsense. The number of cadres is continually increasing and the prices of Sandton mansions and BMW's are going up, they will need to suck more and more money from the citizens of SA to keep up their ludicrous lifestyles.

You missed the R21.

I refuse to buy an etag and simply will just avoid the highways. Fortunately i don't use the highways during the week.

Having said that If tolls go ahead we are all in for increased prices across the board.

Spray the gantries with sticky birdseeds. If all goes well, hididas will discover it. And they crap like there is no tomorrow

All national roads are tolled.

Vandalism

Indirectly ;) Seriously, I don't promote vandalism. What I do promote is for people to stand up against what they believe is wrong. A few friends were debating this, and what is evident that the poor is unhappy about lack of service delivery. But the middle-class which tends to be the cash cow (in most countries) are also slowly moving away from apathy into action. The eTolls are a brilliant example. And that is scary. How far can people be pushed until the public disobedience are everywhere?

Call it vandalism, hell, call it treason if you want, If gov think they can simply call it something then stop us then it is in for a serious amount of 're-education.

I called Zuma all sorts of things and he is still there being the @#@!-! That he always is, so, good luck.
