SKY in the Uk launched the Now TV box for 10GBP, which icludes BBC i player and a few other services. Does anyone know if you can use UNOtelly on this box and if it can play local media content

at 10 GBP its a steal even if you get BBC channels at the most

I already tred to order one, but they only shipping to UK for now. Will see if anyone I know is going over anytime soon or will have to make use of other services.

I got soo excited initially when I saw this, only to see that they charge 10pounds for a day pass for sport. So basically 6 games soccer games in the month will cost me 60pounds...

Thats only for the SKY Tv, but BBC iplayer is free

I only want it for BBC iPlayer. I have a Roku for everything else (netflix, hulu, local streaming ect) but as it is setup to US, I can't get BBC iPlayer. Thought this would be the easiest and cheapest way to get it working.

Funny thing is it's based off the Roku LT model. Found out you can sideload Plex onto this so it's a cheap Roku replacement.

Cool does anyone know if does offline media as well? Or will I have to stream using Plex. I have a WD live TV set up for US watching

You can via unotelly... just change your region for BBC iplayer to UK under Unotelly via your PC browser. I watch nowTV, BBC iplayer, Netflix, etc.

Seeing at this thread was resurrected… I got mine the other day and yes, you can use unotelly and also load plex for your local media. Now if I could only get netflix on it…

And fwiw it also comes with a HDMI cable - bonus! :) I'm ordering a second one to collect when I'm in the UK over easter.

So how is this NowTV? Same-same as Hulu or better?

The service? Apart from the back catalogue of shows it offers live streaming of Sky 1, Sky Living, Sky Atlantic, Comedy Central, Fox, MTV, Discovery, and Disney. Probably a couple others I can't remember. That's for the Entertainment Package - they also offer Sky Movies and Sky Sports but I haven't used those yet.

At 10GBP the Now TV box is a good buy but if you have to pay shipping costs to SA it might be more worthwhile to purchase a Roku LT or 1. Amazon has just launched their Prime service in the UK to replace the current Lovefilm offering which might also become available on the Roku but not on the Now TV box. YouTube should also be coming to the low end Roku's later this year but I'm not sure about the Now TV box. No Hulu Plus, Netflix or Amazon Prime does reduce the appeal of the Now TV box though. Amazon will apparently also be launching their own settop box quite soon which might be worth a look.
