Nu-World takes proactive action on TVs

I can predict plenty of people will still be confused by their model number on the front of the box.

If they don't change the name to HD ready then they are still trying to lie to people. There is nothing confusing, they are just lying.

True. There has not been any confusion on the customer's side.

i like the new lable "high definition". customers will much rather pick a tv marked as "high definition" than one marked "hd ready".

hashtag scumbags

WTF? MyBroadband, I hope you're not going to just sit back and take that.

Their changes to their packaging equates to what? Removing the panel resolution (which they'd used incorrectly previously) and just writing "High Definition" instead? So now they're just obfuscating the truth, rather than directly lying about it? I guess that's an improvement.

"HIGH DEFINITION" is an industry standard. "HD-ready" is another industry standard. Their panels are HD ready. You can't refer to a well-recognised industry standard label just because if you squint your eyes and look at the panel from a distance it looks like it might be that thing.

Sheesh, these guys don't learn their lesson.

+1

Isn't this fraud?
By admitting to QC problems, they admit or knew what was happening?
Massive fine and refunds should be in order as companies rip off consumers because they can get away?

I hope mybroadband continues on their investigative momentum and follow up on this. This is wrong what they are doing.

“We can see from the response to the MyBroadband articles that there might be confusion with the packaging/labelling on the TV panels up to 32-inch,”

They even lie about the response on MyBroadband. You are lying sacks of sheat Nu-World you're still lying. This whole saga amounts to fraud there is absolutely no confusion here. Your new packaging still amounts to fraud.

Maybe it's not an issue by my eye still picks this up immediately - check the model number on the box: TLEDD-32FHDB

How pathetic can Nu-World get?

Nu-World why don't you"

(1) Simply state clearly on the box WHAT the native resolution of the panel is?
(2) READ UP on the logo standards used in the EU and other countries and then check if the TV complies with "HD" or "HD Ready" and then use the logos as they are intend to be used?
(3) CHANGE the code on the TVs NOT to use the letters "FHD" if the TV does not qualify as such! Replace it with a correct code!

Nu-World is doing itself a disservice here by now not labelling some of the TVs which meet the "HD ready" standard correctly!.

What is the problem Nu-World? Is there no one in your setup that knows how to evaluate supplier offers?

All you have to do is issue a certificate with each TV stating what each TVs native resolution is. That is why the term "native Resolution" exists after all.

knew is the past tense for know ? sentence in pic was structured in past tense?

I knew what he meant
Nope. You know what he meant.
The person (or action) who did it is in the past tense "meant", but your knowledge when you saw/see it is current in the present. You did not forget in the five minutes it takes (took) to respond, nor days (etc) later.

That assumes they actually want to correct the situation. They simply don't. They're doing whatever it takes to muddy the water and deflect blame until this blows over. They're going to fall over themselves *not* to do any of that as it implies a level of repentance that they simply haven't shown. I'm fairly sure that they are well aware of what the standard is.

For most people HD Ready is a euphemism for rubbish and creates a certain price expectation. They're using weasel words & lack of consumer education to flog off their rubbish stock to a public that isn't really aware of the difference, either at a price point or prestige level that is higher than a HD Ready set deserves.

Nu-World have a reputation for this type of obfuscation, not just with TVs'

I would suggest they get taken to task on not calling these "HD ready" TVs'. Who're they trying to con this time?

The company said if consumers who have purchased a TV have any queries, they are welcome to call the Nu-World support line on 011 321 2111, or email [email protected].
Yeah... just email your queries to us and we'll tell you the truth

So their proactive solution is to print new boxes. What about those who have been suckered already?

It added that its tests showed certain units produced a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution result.
...and tests were conducted why? Didn't they know what the results would be?

My thoughts exactly. The model number still implies that it's a Full HD TV.

They're also still denying any wrongdoing, and claiming that it was merely "confusion".
