UPDATE:

Servers ordered and being installed on-site at both locations. As soon as we can get access to them, well start the configuration process of replicating our current stable software onto it.

I have been offered extra bandwidth for only a few bucks a month more for 3 months, as soon as we launch there will be 3000GIG traffic per month available so we can cater for a ALOT of users :)

I wonder if it would be possible to push that amount in a month :)

Id love to get users to max it out, its ALOT of bandwidth lol

Just want to thank Clipse and MrBEEP for all their effort. Wish they'd hand Telkom to guys like you!

lol ah there we go ;-)

Yep cant wait, i really have some cool ideas which ill unzip in the comings weeks :)

I aim to please and hope to hit.

Clipse you are joking right! Have you seen how people in SA download, international/capped or not!

3000 Gigs... lets say with everyone here and who else knows what... Hmmm 20 days (maybe less :D ) and if they dont do it the first month! They will try hard the next... after all you are paying for it so they will want to use it :)

lemme see... does this mean i can now order guild wars and use your service to play a decent game? how much will you charge us to ensure we get our 3GB of unshaped BW per month? i refuse to pay R400 or R500 for TELKOM to provide something that should be free, but i would much rather pay somebody else who wants to go head to head with them.

my question is in other words: how do i ensure that i will get a spot on your service? (please note, for gaming purposes and thus low bandwidth usage)

Well its alot of free bandwidth, as proposed, users here will be able to get each month 3gig for free, if they want more, it will balance out extra costs for bandwidth, since I will charge these users extra for gigs, as soon as I know what is realistic to charge.

As you notice, we run a redundant 2x1gigabit network, bandwidth is not a issue really, only will be come a issue with users using more than 3gig a month.

I will be able to assign 500 users with 3gig each (since there is double traffic on the server, game->server->client and client->server->game , the chances would be that we will only have 1500gig available from the client side.

as soon as 500 users have 3gig accounts, maybe a few less users, then ill know its full and if users then signup it will just fall under the excess usage and will need to be charged for.

I have put aside R1750 a month for this project, that im willing to cover, anything more I need to cover from the community using more bandwidth, so all together it remains a fair deal.

Congrats!

Hi Clipse!

I just want to congratulate you on this effort.

I think that it is absolutely great that people like you and MrBeep are willing and able to take these innitiatives to benefit the community and make these things happen.

Anything that comes from helping the community and putting a little dent on Telkom's abusive power can only be good.

As I have done with MrBeep, I am also offering you my full support on your project in any form I can provide it. So please do not hesitate to let me know if I can lend a hand or contribute to your efforts in any way.

As a community member and an advocate of competition and efficient deregulation I cannot but applaud both your efforts and hope that these are the first steps of many more to come that will help South Africa have decent and affordable connectivity. Things have to change and people like you are going to make this happen.

Congratulations to both of you and keep up the good work... great things will come from it!

Cheers!

gogogogo clipse u bad ass mofo :D :D :D. its great and all, book me an acc :)

Again, great job Clipse and MrBeeps.
Although, Clipse - I'm sure everyone will be (as in the case of MrBeeps) willing to give a little "donation" per month to cover the R1750..

Even if it's only like R40 - you only need about 45 donations.
Just a thought - although FREE will do too :)
