Nvidia GeForce NOW SA launch

anyone know if the bug still works or if it has been patched
i get it in my cart but then get error T-T

Lol, so my boyfriend also got an invite for the GFN beta and he tried to sign up earlier this week, but the signup did not allow him to select the priority plan. Rain phoned him yesterday and told him that they saw that he tried to sign up, but they then said that he will have to wait a bit as they had to temporarily suspend further signups due to a breach in the beta signup system :sneaky:

Pretty sure it's been covered a few pages back

Mine persisted in Starfield?

Some games do save settings like Ubisoft+ game but other games like Battlefield does not save the graphics settings and it defaults to Nvidia recommended settings each session.

The option to save settings in the Nvidia app is disabled for Free and Priority plan. It's only available for Ultimate.

This is the setting I'm referring to in GFN.

Yeah I tested this morning with Mibox 3 and PS4 controller. Controller lag and for some reason, the buttons are Xbox buttons.

Not sure how to fix this. If I can get it to work it would be great for my oldest boy to play on the Mibox. I don't want to let him play on the PS4, scared he will delete kak or something. He still learning.

Weird, I did not experience any controller lag with my PS5 controller and the Netogy Nova. The only thing is weird on my side is the fact that the select buttons are swopped on the controller. For example, back X and select is triangle. Also for Asetto Cosa Competizione it assigned the throttle to the options button and the brakes to the share button - I was like W-T-F! Imagine doing a race like that using those two buttons . Tried mapping the shoulder and trigger buttons in the game options, but nada - it doesn't like it. Even in Steam big picture settings via GFN, I tried various options there, but couldn't get the PS5 controller working natively with the game. Not GFN's or Steam's fault, I blame the weird mapping my Netogy Nova makes to the controller :)

I imagine using my 360 controller will yield no issues with the button mapping. BUT from the one race that I did play, again - it was like playing the game locally on my PC. No lag, no input lag - silky smooth and best of all, it was via WiFi too. All in all - I like GFN - wouldn't mind doing racing games / fighting games on my 65" TV in the lounge instead on some occasions or when having friends / family over.

Testing GFN directly on my TV was the first thing I tried when I joined but i faced the same issue so i just played on my laptop instead.
It's an issue within android that just causes this dualsense controller problem, and it's been present since the PS5 released and still no fix.
Other controllers work fine, just not the dual sense. :(

They added support for the PS5 controller with Android 12, so if you used a Chromecast with Google TV it would probably be perfect.

I know what you mean! When you are used to high refresh 60fps feels like 40fps. Around 85fps is what I remember 60fps felt like.
And on GFN, to get an actual 60hz experience, you need 120fps. This is why I’m not a huge fan right now.

So I used the ingame browser in geforce now , I have a 100 mbps line but when I do a speed test using the in game browser it shows gigabit speeds . This could mean rain has set up very fast lines for the online games and and I guess also for updating games quickly.

Indeed, but it's coming from both Rain directly and Vodacom. It's not a train smash but the Rain NLD between CPT and JHB looks slightly lower in latency than the Vodacom one and this could be because they use a different NLD and once the traffic reaches JHB it needs to go over a cross connect from Vodacom to Rain because Rain uses Vodacom for transit internationally. I think Vodacom is also announcing that range at IXP which Rain should probably change.

@cavedog

I logged this with Rain and got back:

"Hi @shadow_man

Please note we are aware of the problem and are busy working on a resolution, we do apologize for any inconvenience caused."

--

So hopefully it gets fixed soon!

@cavedog I'm wondering if it's worth it routing traffic to one of those free Oracle ARM instances and checking if that's more reliable.

This is fine... If it keeps up they'll have lost a customer who was going to go for Ultimate at the end of the beta. Sad as it was working 100% until someone decided to pick the lossiest route possible.

Try cloudflare warp.

So there are 2 issues.

1. Rain probably don't want to use Vodacom for this transit because it will cost them significantly while they have their own peering and NLD set up.
2. I'm surprised that Cool Ideas prefer the route from Vodacom as it is at least 1 AS hop longer than Rain directly. The rain peer will be a direct Cool Ideas <> Rain AS-path vs Cool Ideas <> Vodacom <> Rain which would be at least 3 AS-path. An ISP can also play around with the Weight and Local Pref attribute to get better peer selection.

If Rain removes Vodacom completely, they won't have any fail over when their mail NLD goes down, so I think having Vodacom also announce that route is beneficial.

I have it's not perfect either...

Seems like Rain needs to market this as a service as currently for JHB gamers only.... (sincerely hoping they investigate / fix like they mention).

I'm curious what the transit traffic is costing them :whistling:

I'm going to try a WireGuard VPN on an Oracle ARM instance and see if that's any better.

Arg yes. Looks like Cloudflare has a PNI with Vodacom so it favours the PNI over Peering.

I put my name on the waiting list but nothing yet :( pity cause I was ready to throw my money at them

Something interesting, when that Activision deal went down, Ubisoft secured a hell of a lot of rights for streaming, reckon our big ISPs should start getting very friendly with Ubisoft, lol, some potential here.

Also find it funny that Xbox hasn't pulled something in this market yet with regards to streaming.
