Nvidia GeForce NOW SA launch

Bought an msi 1440p monitor off of takealot.
The increase in resolution is really nice but the tradeoff is that i now notice the gfn compression that seperates gfn image quality from native image quality, even with maxed out bitrate.

very apparent with heavy foliage and fast-ish movement.

Yeah so you need to do 4K in gfn but 1440p in game. That might help a bit. The compression is an issue

Can't do without 120 so I'll stick to 1440p stream lol

Also 1 more question since you have a 2080, is cloudgsync/vrr working for you?

Man this sucks, absolutely no word from Rain for over 14 months on slot availability.
No communication at all.

wish one of you guys would just partner up with Nvidia to properly bring GeForce Now to the country @AfriNatic @PBCool @websquadza
It's very very expensive to partner up with Nvidia and do the GeForce Now in South Africa, so anybody partnering up with them is unlikely..

But it's a worthy investment, is it not?
if afrihost can buy two large ISPs then surely they can invest in geforce now servers.

They've got top tier comms, network and existing hosting stuff on their website so they know what they're doing.

Not this nonsense called @rain_mobile

They said soon™. You just have to wait
atleast they’ll do a big launch and communicate about it unlike rain who just made a little poster on their drop down menu. I have been begging for a ultra slot since December 2023, priority is nice but i really want to make use of my 144hz monitor

It certainly seems worth it though, although only Rain and GFN will have a idea on player stats and times.

From what i've seen, it definitely is and the demand will continue to grow because of the prices of pc components and consoles in this country.
There also hasn't been an alliance partner who stopped providing the service because it wasn't worth it or they weren't making money and considering that Rain was able to (allegedly) purchase those expensive 4080 superpods while keeping slots sold out tells me that it's more than worth it.

Not sure, but I heard they were in talks with Nvidia so maybe this year💔
It ain't happening unfortunately, unless something has changed? 👀@cavedog

haven't seen this in like a year.
where did all the rigs go, i've been waiting for like 12 minutes lmao @rain_mobile

edit: worth the wait instead of being thrown into a 3060 rig.

My Disappointment with Rain's GeForce Now - It's Gone From Great to Unusable

When Rain first brought GeForce Now to South Africa, I was really happy. Finally, I could play great games without having to buy expensive computer parts. For a while, it worked really well, and I was telling all my friends about it.

But lately, something has gone very wrong. It seems like a lot more people have joined, and Rain just can't handle it. Now, when I want to play after work, I have to wait forever just to get a game going. I'm talking about waiting an hour, sometimes even two hours! This is just not okay. I work during the day, and my time to relax and play games is limited. Waiting this long makes the service completely useless for me.

What makes this even worse is that if I try to cancel my subscription, I'm told there's a huge waiting list to get back in later – maybe months, maybe even years! So, I'm stuck paying money every month for something I can't even use properly. This feels incredibly unfair and like a really bad way to treat customers.

Look, the GeForce Now technology itself is good when you actually get to play. But the way Rain is running it here in South Africa right now, with these crazy waiting times and this ridiculous waiting list to rejoin, is just not acceptable.

I'm so disappointed in how things have become. I was a big supporter of this service, but now I feel like I'm just throwing my money away. Rain needs to fix this problem with their servers and seriously rethink this unfair policy about canceling and rejoining.

If you're thinking about signing up for Rain's GeForce Now, please be aware of these serious issues. As for me, I'm stuck and very angry that I'm paying for something I can't properly enjoy. This whole situation feels like a slap in the face to loyal customers.

after not using it for months and now wanting to play something, I'm sitting in the same boat. It's really just quantity over quality for them. The more they can get from subscriptions, the better.

Yeah looks like they let a lot of people signup. We never got queues ever.

Reminds me of launch week but the queues eventually settled though not so long after and I think this situation will be the same.

Hopefully queues don't go back up when Minecraft releases on the platform sometime this year.
