One thing about these slides is they don't give an idea of rasteriser performance. For games that don't support Ray Tracing and DLSS, we don't know how much faster they are.

Must say though, that $499 3070 has my name all over it.

I'm thinking Nvidia's much better pricing is partly out of respect for what AMD have coming out in November.

Yea I'm planning the 1070-to-3070 jump in the new year. Unless I get a Christmas bonus in which case maybe this year.

I don't think it will be the same this time around. Nvidia clearly now dropped the Titan name within this generation and replaced it with the 3090.

The 3080Ti in my opinion will be positioned between the 3080 and 3090 pending on whether there will be a Ti.

A 3080Ti is likely to be priced $899-$999.

There is a lot of emphasis of Ray Tracing, but not may games use Ray Tracing, even though most graphics engines support it - and this is something Nvidia engineers probably help facilitate still leaves a lot to be desired. I dont think that this generation is going to see large scale Ray Tracing adoption.

I am curious to see what AMD is going to release, I suspect that they are going to brute force the shite out of Big Navi in order to achieve similar Ray Tracing performance, which I suspect they might not do and focus on budget 1440 performance and trying to make it a norm, and affordable.

DF's "first look" makes it seem like the 3080 is about 75-80% faster than the 2080. Based on that, I would say the 3070 will be within 10% of the 2080Ti, which is great.

Agreed. DLSS is far more useful than RT atm. I would rather like to see them push a lower set of GTX cards with DLSS - WHICH THE 1660ti/super should have actually had and be able to push more frames at a higher resolution.

I am still trying to figure out why they added the 'hot loading' feature for the new RT cards and then give the 3070 8GB of ram, so if you buy a 3070 you have a feature you cannot leverage because you are physically limited by the amount of RAM on the card.

Easy fix though, double the amount of RAM in your machine.

I dont think its that important to be honest. I'd like to test how Ray Tracing affects latency in frame delivery. RT already incurs a performance hit when it is being used, so surely it will negatively affected, sure if all of your cumulative hardware can deliver 60fps at 1440, but with a crappy latency - what is the point?

At the moment, no one knows how Nvidia Reflex works - so bringing that up is moot point for the moment. It may need engine support etc etc

Well, yes but I think the next wave of games will have much better support for RT. They showed off Fortnite, COD, and Cyberpunk 2077 with RT support. RT is not a gimmick, it just needs to be implemented in games without such a performance hit as it took with the RTX 2xxx cards.

I think if you really want to use the rtx 3xxx cards you're gonna need to upgrade EVERYTHING in your PC. You'll want a PCI-E 4.0 motherboard, an M.2 SSD, much faster and more ram, a top end CPU, otherwise something will bottleneck it.

I figured if I upgrade carefully and sell my stuff I can get away with upgrading from my current platform to a faster 3700x cpu and 3070 for around 450 euros. I'm all in.
