The 5770 isn't high on power consumption, depending on the rest of your rig I can say a well known brand name 460W would be efficient from what you've been saying in your previous posts.
 
5770's idle power consumption rating is impressive, as well as load rating where is uses at least 60 - 80 watts less than the HD4870 to produce similar results...
 
i was using a 4870 1gig on an omega 500watt psu that wasnt exactly great, 14 and 15amps on the rails and that psu did fine. So Any good name brand psu will do the job.

Also +1 for the Vantec Ion PSUs. good affordable and reliable.
 
im getting a Coolermaster 550W PSU to go along with my 5770. cant wait! :)

Well let's say he buys a small little cheap 500w power supply for 500 bucks and then a couple months down the road he decides he wants something bigger like a 5870, that would mean he will have to fork out for another power supply to run it. So you can save yourself money down the line by buying a big power supply if you can afford to.

I made that mistake and when i bought my 9800gx2 i had to fork out 1.1k for a new one. So i ended up buying a 550 rand power supply and then another 1.1k power supply. So buying big can save you money down the line.
 
5770 is very low power requirements. Don't worry about that, any decent psu will handle it. But for safety sake we would always recommend a higher branded supply, you get what you pay for.

If he forks out cash for a 5870, then there is going to be another bottleneck some where along the line which would likely be the CPU. I'm for buying everything that is suitable for a rig at it's current moment in time, if an upgrade is to be made then sell what is on hand and raise funds for a bigger power supply. If buying a PSU is advice, one might as well also buy more RAM in the long run.
 
Yea i also used to think like that but then i realized if you buy say a 650 or 750 PSU with a 5 year warranty that means for the next 5 years you are sorted. Can you say the same about ram memory and cpu?
It is not like the socket changes on a PSU :D, just some advice from personal experience, would have saved me money.

Yes, depends on the brand, you won't get a 5yr warranty out of every brand(same goes for memory and the CPU).
No they wouldn't unless a new revision of the ATX spec is made lol.
 
Good to know! Will anyway open my chassis tonight just double check what Power supply I have - And I will post it here just to confirm. So far, I'm probably getting GV-R577UD-1GD R Gigabyte® ATI® Radeon HD5770, 1GB 128Bit GDDR5, PCI-E 2.0, Dual DVI, HDMI & DisplayPort, DX11, OpenGL, Shader Model 5, Crossfire.

Does this has the same power requirement as the other 5770's?

Well my 750w corsair cost 1.1k and it has a 5 year warranty so i think that it is damn good, not modular but i don't care :D.
