nzbs.org closed now too? :(

Nzb.su is fine.

unable to access it the whole day....will try from my phone quickly.

Edit: ok, seems to be working....maybe its a DNS issue or something at my work place.

NZB.su isn't down but you have to go to nzb.su/index.php now for some reason.

lol at you guys using nzbs. Torrents exist for a reason :)

Yeah for noobs who don't know how to automate stuff.

More like non-centralized sharing so there's no one server to take down. Hell there isn't even a place to send the take down notice too.

Actually they can and they have, the take-down notice goes to the site, at which point they remove it from the tracker, then only the users already connected int he peer can use it, no new users can join and if for any reason you loose connection you will not be able to reconnect to the peers again.

TPB was the first to receive these DMCA takedown notices and they complied.

Also without a very private tracker your ip address is available to all these dmca lawyers, who can then come after you directly.
Torrents are best left to noobs, morons and those who can afford massive fines and would like to adjust them room size and decor.

Usenet content does not reside on one server. Dissing a service that you don't even understand :erm:

Ya like the 4 that exist at the data centers of our main ISP's in this country, last count there were over 100 major servers world wide, not to mention the unknown thousands of minor ones.

Ever heard of DHT? No need for tracker sites.

Previous to usage of a DHT for distributing peers, trackers were the only method of finding peers. The key feature of using the DHT over trackers is that the decentralized approach favours the nature of the BitTorrent protocol. The DHT operates by distributing lists of peers identified by the SHA-1 hash of the torrent.

Its still server to client technology (ie they host the data and serve it to you in whatever format). Which is why p2p torrents were invented. Its very easy for them to go after the nzb sites and they not ganna chill on it. Nzb`s are easy targets that I am surprised they left alone for so long. I was expecting them to do this ages ago tbh. To give you an idea of the difference between the two. If they switch off my torrent website... I can still torrent. If they switch off the NZB server, you gotta find a new one. This is the issue torrents were designed for.

My cloud based torrents are fully automated and ready to watch way faster than nzb`s, but I understand the desire to hang on to old technology. Its what people know and what they are familiar with. Good luck keeping up with these shutdowns and I hope it stays up, but I expect to see a lot of people moving over the next year or so back to torrents.

Most private trackers do not work with DHT, they specifically require that it be disabled, and then you still need a centralized location for said torrent as the hash will vary between creations.
This still leaves your IP address open to DMCA lawyers and open to prosecution.

Name one person arrested or prosecuted in SA for torrents? :D

Anyways, risk can be mitigated by using Put.io or a similar service (I use put.io cause its faster than anything else on the market).
