Oasis

LOL, the myBB trait when the member's argument has been dismantled and they have been shown to be wrong, so they resort to personal posts and insults.

Not really....

Oasis = Rock

As opposed to

Radiohead = Alt Rock
Bush = Grunge/Post-Grunge
Seether = Alt Rock/Post-Grunge
The Butterfly Effect = Metal/Alt-Metal
Breaking Benjamin = Post-Grunge/Hard-Rock

I'll let you explain how Kanye remotely fits into the above, but I am guessing you meant Keane which is Alt-Rock.

see the britpop there?
here is a wiki link.
and as I stated, post grunge is britpop with distortion

here is a fun game.
start at Oasis on wikipedia. click on britpop see how many of the bands I mentioned are listed on that page.
any bands I listed that are not there will be on the post grunge page

yeah sucks when someone backs up their argument with links right?

but I am the one who needs to cope?

how about you go listen to some Oasis and make your day better?
how about you go tell your mom you won this argument online today so she can give you a nice ice cream after dinner

The only thing your backed up was your total misunderstanding of music genres, as seen below:

Radiohead, Bush, Seether, The butterfly effect, breaking Benjamin, Coldplay, Kayne, Placebo

all of those are the same time, and similar sounds without resorting to the same 5 cords, while exploring more lyrical themes.

Oasis sound nothing like any of those bands.

how about you go listen to some Oasis and make your day better?

Why are they doing this now?

The cynical answer is of course that 14 huge shows (with more to be announced) will generate a lot of income for the band.

If Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is anything to go by, they could rake in around £14m per show.
Damn. Per show?!

a mediocre band with mediocre music.

the same 5 cords.
the same lyrical themes.
the same tempo.

in terms of brit pop they were the best selling but by no means the best.
and when you compare them to other similar non brit pop bands at the same time in the post grunge era again, there are better selling and better sounding acts out there.

Radiohead, Bush, Seether, The butterfly effect, breaking Benjamin, Coldplay, Kayne, Placebo

all of those are the same time, and similar sounds without resorting to the same 5 cords, while exploring more lyrical themes.

but outside of the fact that they are the musical equivalent of a wet rag lying on the floor what I have always disliked most about them is the attitude they have. maybe its only one of them that has the attitude problem, maybe its both. but they still have a higher opinion of themselves then the music is backing up.

That's such an ignorant thing to say.

Look at ACDC, not much variety in chords there but they are legends.

Megadeth is my favourite and they are anything but limited, so it's not like that is my style.

Never bought or listened to an Oasis song on purpose, but now that I'm older I can recognize a good song when I hear one, and Oasis has them.

I listen to a lot of different genre's of music. from deathcore to drum and bass, rap ,trap and hip hop. a good song is a good song.
I spent 40 mins defending Taylor swift because the song anti hero is a good song. I have spent a lot of time convincing people to listen to Lorna shore, because the pain remains is a good song. I have introduced so many people to chase and Status because Badadan (and backbone) is a good song.

Oasis does not have a good song. every single one of their songs is the same thing, but again I listen to a lot of Sabaton so that is not an issue. but defending Oasis is like defending Kurt Darren. 3 cords, D,A and G that is all that every song is made of. and that is true for both of them.

Dont just list a song, tell me why you think its good. a good argument for why Bjork is worth listening to had me suffer though an album of hers to try and find what that person expressed as good. I could understand their point, but I still wish I never listened to the album.
so point out what makes the song good musically and I will go and listen with an open mind.

I will give you an example.
in the Pain remains by Lorna shore, the way the song is arranged you can understand the pain the protagonist is experiencing in its raw form. the guitar work becomes a voice on its own expresses as much pain as the vocalist is singing about. there is a moment (4:19 or so) where that solo explains the pain of loosing someone better than words can ever express, and as soon as that solo is over the vocalist comes in and sums up that feeling and its like you are staring into the face of a broken man at a funeral who has not said a word but finally turned to you and in a few simple words left you feeling as deeply hurt as he did, but that was not his intention, he just wanted to share his thoughts with someone and you were closest. there is more context to the song, there is an entire album worth of story that leads to that moment, and that is only part 1 of the 3 songs that all come together to illustrate the different stages of grief though music in a way like nothing I have ever experienced, it takes the theoretical examples of the stages of grief and lays it bare in front of you theory becomes reality and you can truly feel it even though it is not your pain.

be warned Lorna shore is a deathcore band, the vocalist does things with his voice most people cant stand to listen to. its not for everyone, and in fact most people will not make it very far into the song before turning it off simply for how he sings. but when you understand that the vocals are a percussion instrument rather than a melodic element, and the guitars bring the melodic element that people expect from vocals, and you understand that the lyrical content require the aggressive vocals in order to get the message across there is a way to make it though and understand it.

Fair enough. However, if you listen to this song from Oasis you will see just what musical geniuses they were. Most of their songs were written for the radio and to get to those top charts.

Yes, songs that are complex can be great, but sometimes songs that are simple that you just rock out to are great to. A song doesn't have to be complex or have some deeper meaning to be a good song.

It really depends on what mood you're in.

100% agree.

I do lean more towards the complex stuff myself, but even when a song is simple I want to at least not be handled like a todler.
give me some musical progresssion, give me some lyrics that make me think at least

yes! and if you cant explain what it is about a song that you enjoy, do you enjoy it or do you enjoy the idea of enjoying it.

a 2 year old might LOVE baby shark, that does not make it a good song....

Odd that someone who likes music seems to miss the point that sometimes you just like something without having a bunch of reasons why. It's like asking someone to tell you why they think a certain food is good. I mean - if I like eating plain rice and tomato sauce I don't really care if you don't like it, nor do I care to sell you on the idea. Sometimes music just reminds people of a time and place in their life and that's enough for them to say they like the music.

Are Oasis basic? Yeah sure. Do I enjoy Champagne Supernova and a few other songs? Yeah sure.

A Theodore Roosevelt speech springs to mind
