I decided to actually play the game fully for once. Tried it a few times before but never got to the main quest. So I got all the graphics enhancement mods and started it up again (see all buildings/LOD/weather enhancements etc.) Still looks amazing for a 2006 game.

Just became master of all the guilds yesterday. Mages/Fighters/Thieves/Dark Brotherhood are all mine :) Have about 300k cash as well so I don't bother picking up loot anymore as I already have purchased the best house in Skingrad. Anything else worthwhile to spend cash on?

I spent 2 days maxing out my skills and attributes after coming out of the sewers before starting any quests. So did my first quest at lvl39 with 100 in all attributes.
Will start and finish on the other side quests soon. Then go on to main quest. Still need to deliver the amulet...hehe.

Any DLC that is recommended? I just have the original version.

Would love to play this game at high-res/full graphics, was such an awesome game but never finished it due to studies. Tempted to get PS3 version but heard its not as good as the PC version.

Think I got most of them from: www.tesnexus.com/
Plus a few mods from other sites as well. Just google. There are a number of mod sites.

Also read this: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Recommended_Mods
This doesn't have all the graphical mods listed though.

I play with everthing on max with laptop specs in my sig. Works butter smooth.
Only things I've turned off is HDR, AA and the grass. (It's annoying when you kill something and you spend more time looking for it's body in the long grass)

Oblivion was the first RPG I really liked, played for 7 months! The only other one I played before it was Ultima 8 back in the day. So amped for Skyrim! Apparently the expansions are a worthy addition, perhaps try them?

How on earth did you max everything in two days?

It wasn't difficult. There's a lady's basement in Anvil with 4 rats in it. You hit them once and you can level up your heavy/light armour and block skills real fast. For your attack skills like blade/bunt/hand to hand/destruction/marksman etc.. you can go to Rosentilia Galus house in Leyawin. There's 4 scamps which keep respawning after you kill them. For acrobatics, just jump on the spot real fast while jammed under a low roof. The magic skills can be leveled quick by putting a weight on the cast and block button :)

The only skills that are difficult (takes too long) to raise are mercentile/athletics/restoration.
So used trainers for some of those levels. My mercentile is at 100. Not all my skills are at 100. Attritubes are at all 100 though, including luck.

So... you broke the game? :D

I enjoyed Oblivion back in the day - got it with my 360 when it launched. The fact that EVERYTHING levelled with you just annoyed the carp out of me.

Yeah, I know all the tricks, although from Morrowind, as I detested Oblivion.

Seems a pretty boring way of playing the game, personally, but if you dig it, great.

Hehe, it's much better leveling up first. Plus if you use all the tricks it is real quick. Then you can play the game how you want to without worrying about stat points, skills and effecient leveling ever again.

I used the 5/5/1 leveling system. So only needed to level up 20 skills per level to get maximum stats. 5 of those were bought from trainers, so only 15 points per level was actually raised by me. Only leveled up the real easy to level up skills and once I hit 100 in its linked attribute I stopped raising the skill.

Once you're done with Oblivion, get the Nehrim "total conversion mod" : http://www.nehrim.de/dataEV.html

It's literally a new game built on top of the Oblivion engine, for free. These guys did alot of work i must say.

Biggest thing of note is the level "scaling" is removed, so areas will actually be "too high" or "too low" for your character etc.

That's a crazy way to play the game. If you level up and start the main quests you will find the game levels up the enemies too. Although perhaps if you max them it won't make a difference.

It's a huge game. I never finished it myself. Something about the character animation annoyed me eventually.

The only great strictly "rpg" for me since oblivion is "Dragons age origins". Oh Morrigan !
