1. Road racers. Especially the souped up golfs and corsas. Those cars were designed many years ago with specific goals. The platforms were not meant to handle a lot of power and/or high speed. The suspension, chassis, brakes and drag all play a part in how a car handles and these little cars are not supposed to be doing what they're doing these days. No ABS, ESP or airbags but they choose to make them go faster. I've seen sooooo many accidents involving these little cars with over-zealous drivers.
4. When driving up a hill (Plattekloof, anyone?), if you're driving a 800-1400cc car, do not climb the hill in the right-hand lane. You don't have the power to climb at 120km/h and if you need to slow down for any reason, you REALLY don't have the power to speed up again. This is what causes the backup on the N1 every day.
7. People who put their seats back so far that they can just about see out of the rear passenger window. Seriously...WTF? While you're trying to look cool you cannot even see over the steering wheel, let alone see how close the front of your car is to the person in front of you. Yes Golf GTi drivers, I'm referring to you! I realise you have no individuality and have to buy the same kark as the rest of the uninformed masses, but do you all really have to make a concerted effort to all look and drive the same way? (i.e. badly)
Nice Post
Nocturnity & Iwojima - agree with you okes 100%, echoed my sentiments exactly!
P.S. I am also in CT - wonder if it's just a local thing where Capetonians drive so ***?
The most dangerous drivers on the road are those in cars with 25 year and 50 year AA membership stickers fixed to the rear window
Uns Uns Uns!
People who don't use indicators.
EDIT: Especially around traffic roundabouts.
And taxis.
Undertakers?
Some things that irk me:
- Driver who have one arm hanging out the window for no real reason.
- No indicating when changing lanes, and lane jumpers.
- People who take small gaps when changing lanes. The gap in front of my car is not there for YOU, it's there for safety... Usually done without indicating as wellIf you indicate I know to make space.
- Anyone who drives into side streets to force themselves back into a queue 200m up the road where EVERYONE is waiting already. Selfish, nothing else. If I ever kill someone, it'll probably be a queue-jumper.
If someone sits on my arse in traffic, I usually just increase the following distance for the car in front of me. Sadly this encourages lane jumpers to hop into this nice gap, but at least it gives me space to make more gradual stops.

Agreed. In fact, I was explaining this to the gf's mother, the first time I met her. Uncomfortable silence round the table, check her car later and sure enough -> AA 25. <face palm>
And don't forget those who sit on your rear end, sniffing your exhaust fumes like an aroused canine![]()
Ah, yes. This is another of my peeves. I was on my way to work on the bike this morning and some shmuck in a new Corolla decided he wants to read how wide my back tire is on the N1. I flogged the 'ol lady a bit and passed a few cars so someone else could be behind me.
