Anyone else in Cape Town having issues with Octotel fibre since about 1am?

The ONT's PON light is red.

I'm on Afrihost over Octotel and my line is up

Whereabouts in CT are you (I'm in Kraaifontein/Durbanville).

The line with the problem is in Sea Point, and the ISP help desk confirmed its "down on Octotel's side"

Cool Ideas just announced that there is an Octotel outage in the area.

Octotel's network notices on their website still says "no network outages at this time".

It's all too common for fibre providers to have blank network notice pages during outages - or to be the last one to announce them.
I wonder if the execs who rightly insist on having these pages on their websites actually know how little they're used, and how frustrating that makes them.
It would be so much better for them to rather they say nothing, than to say everything's fine when it isn't. These pages really should be automated and alert visitors as soon as an area outage is logged in their system.

Usually there's internal mails and updates but it's not made public.

Of course. And as soon as the area outage is identified, an automated notice should go up on the network notices page. Even if it doesn't have details - it'll save a lot of stakeholders a lot of time, effort and money just to know upfront that the issue isn't on the client side.

If their customers/partners, in this case the ISP, can and has made it public already, then the FNO has no excuse to not have done that before them or at the very least, at the same time.
