Oculus Quest 2 - worth it?

So I bought Thrill of the Fight last week - and played over the weekend, I now have a ****ed pec, lat and shoulder. VR certainly is a different experience to PC games :p Probably should have taken it easy instead of five fights in a row. (SO also evicted me to the garage for this because the floor was sopping wet after the session)

Fun game, decided to add it to my fitness regime when I'm healed up - but definitely going to take it easier to get my body "boxing" fit.

Saw a RTS type VR game, where you have almost a table top view of the action, anyone know what its called? I can't find it again.

The game is cross-play, so someone can have on quest and another on steam, you join via room code.
There's a "flat" PC version coming out as well

I like the game, fun even if playing on one's own.

It's fun, I randomly swap to that instead of doing melee pistol whip (super fun, suggest you try that as well), just issue is lack of contact with things, so messes elbow a bit when full extend, took a bit of getting used to to not over extend, note the game adjusts to your strength, so don't worry about not hitting hard enough, rather move your body into the swing etc.

That game wrecked me too the first few times. Still is a great workout. Wear a sweatband and have a towel handy.

Anyone that plays Eleven Table Tennis?
Yep, but only against AI, the issue is that latency has a huge impact on that game, even over 50ms makes it super difficult to react to slams. My ISP here does some utterly stupid routing, so even within the same city I have 25ms, so pool of players is too small, and I'm too much of a beginner, lol.

It's one of the few games I would rather play on my quest than on Steam, latency is just too important there.

What I have noticed with the multiplayer is when the ball is in your area of the court everything is happening locally and only once you have returned does the latency apply. And vice versa for your opponent. So always assume your opponent will successfully be returning the ball and you should do just fine. Sometimes what happens is it looks like you just hit a winner and a splitsecond later the ball actually is returning, caught me off guard a couple times. Not sure if I explained that well enough.

Yes, this:

But it needs a pretty stable latency as well. Ping compensation is terrible.

I was dumb enough to play phasmophobia as second game and felt pretty ill like 20 minutes in, took until the day after to get better, ginger ale is good for it.

I'm quite a fan of that game. Definitely the first game I'd try on VR if I ever got one.

But I suffer mad motion sickness in general. One of the more severe cases that I never grew out of. Wonder how I'd fare.

If you have real-world motion sickness, it's not the same thing, not guaranteed VR will make you ill (if e.g. motion sickness on a boat/car ride). If you get a bit ill with head bobbing e.g. watching YT videos, you might have an issue.
But yeah, it's very important to pick the order of games so you end up with "VR legs", it can make or break your choices.

I would love to introduce people into VR by having a game of e.g. Pavlov.
But what I did last time is use Pistol Whip first, seems to have worked out for them, didn't complain of any illness or anything while having fun.

Space Pirate Trainer VR is amazing, it's just like the old version but in VR, they attack from all angles and you're INSIDE the game standing on a platform in Space. I also love even Youtube on the Quest.

Bigscreen and VRChat is a lot of fun as well as the experiences. Youtube has a lot of virtual experiences so you could wander around cities all over the world.

I have no regrets buying mine and use it a few times a week. The fitness games give a really good workout and SideQuest has opened up a whole new world of Content for me.

I prefer hanging out in VR that watching content on my TV and now download 3D versions of movies as they look far better on the Quest than in a cinema with 3D glasses. 3D glasses tend to be darker and not as clear as the Quest.

And just wait till you guys discovery VR P.orn, thats an experience by itself! ;-)

How do these things handle sweat? I've seen some of the games (Thrill of the Fight, for example) - you end up sweating buckets, both on the controller and in the headset

Been running into a surprising number of South Africans this week. It is quite a pleasure playing with local latency. You also immediately know you are playing a South African when you see <20ms ping times :)

I'm probably going to give Resident Evil 4 a try this weekend, hopefully worth the $40.

You get a silicone cover or something washable to wrap over the padding, tons of good after market stuff.

Comes in the box with the newer ones, not sure at which point they added them in but my October one had it.

It does, but I have that one as well as my own one, the one that Oculus sent out isn't great.

Yip, also got one, I'm more concerned with the controllers.
I highly recommend:
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B08QN2SYWT

Using these at the moment, way nicer than the previous ones I had, you can adjust the size of the hand strap, also makes them a little bit longer, so way nicer for my hand size, and don't have to grip the controllers, as in open hand is fine, this is a huge plus for some games where they do toggle click instead of hold click, and stopped controller slipping when swinging around in pistol whip melee.

For strap replacement I am using:
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B08ZYMJSQN

Which is good, but I'd probably go with a halo strap design if buying again (plus back padding is glued on, so ended up gluing some magnets on to hold it in place instead so can clean it), the one usually recommended is:

Thanks, I actually have almost 2k's accessories in my Amazon cart, just deciding on something un-related before ordering (grip trainers)
