BTW I see the there is a Android 2.1 update for the Hero that has been released in the USA for sprint.
 
My battery life is crappy at the best of times, I have to charge at least once a day so I have a car charger and I'm almost always in front of a pc to usb charge. It might be because I play so much though

EDIT: This Astro app is very cool, lots of nice stuff in there
 
I'm starting to love the Hero even though it's on v1.5. Will update to 2.1 as soon as it's available.

One thing that p*sses me off though: I have set my home location to Gordon's Bay, but on the Home screen it still shows the weather for Harare - WTF? Anyone know how to set the home screen to show my home location? is this even possible?

Ya, I changed mine. You can remove the places and add your own. Use the option when they ask - I think it uses the network location of your cell provider. Can't remember the exact steps though, but I did manage to change mine.
 
why did the magic get the sunse UI update but the dream got nothing..that really sux!

Here is the Rom. Do a full wipe with 0.4 and then flash 0.5

I used this as my guide to flash the perfect SPL. Just use a newer version of the flashrec apk as well as a newer version of the recovery image. Also I think it only worked once my phone was unplugged from USB.

I used this as my guide to installing the ROM. Some of the steps are a bit different with newer Recovery Image, but is easy to figure out.

There is some issues with the ROM, but it is not irritating. Only real problem is the when using the camera or goggles the audio of the device stops working, but there is some work arounds. Just have a look at the thread. Google maps[brut] is the one you use for Google maps navigation.

Aha, thanks. Eventually found it - you have to set it in My Location: Settings -> My Location, then enable Use Wireless Networks. the home screen then displays weather data according to your current location.

well they added bluetooth file transfers in 2.0 or 2.1 but the hero seems to be taking forever to get 2.1...
 
I finally flashed 2.1 on my Hero, Villain ROM 5.5, must say I'm very impressed, Google Goggles is amazing :)
