Official Black Ops Discussion Thread

Thanks Psycho, I tried that but it didn't work. So I uninstalled again and deleted all steam files. Busy reinstalling now to see if it is fixed.

Damn, well that's exactly what I did earlier, uninstalled, then deleted the Cod Black Ops folder and remaining files in the steamapps dir, then I reinstalled.
That sorted it out for me.
Hope you come right.

Fraps kills framerate while you're trying to game ..... if a game has ingame record, better to use that.

I also have the no SA servers showing anymore bug :( ... but I'm not going to reinstall the game just for that, but.. in the long run, I guess it isn't a bad idea. Although, I did read somewhere they are limiting the amount of servers that gets displayed in the server browser, thats why I think some of us aren't seeing the SA servers anymore.

This happend to me aswell. All i did was delete the configs in C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty black ops\players and that sorted it out.
Edit: This was after i used that config that was linked earlier. just deleted the new one and the one in the above address.

Stupid question: How/where do you check the FPS?

open console and type in /cg_drawfps 1.

I seriously hope that they get this patched and fixed soon, the game is brilliant..... just a shame that it stu...stu...stu...stu...stu...stutters so damn much.

Is the serious lag got to do with the peering issues, cause when I play on international servers I don't get the spike to 999 ping every ten minutes.

No, pretty much everyone is experiencing the lag bug aka low fps bug. The 999ms spikes are most likely a different problem, owing to peering issues.

I originally posted this on the SGS forums, thought I'd share it with you guys as well:

I've discovered additional little fixes one can make in the mp_config.cfg file.

Navigate to your players folder, should be in steam\steamapps\common\call of duty black ops

Then open up your mp_config.cfg file, and look for the following 3 settings:

1) sys_configSum
2) sys_configureGHz
3) sys_sysMB

Now those 3 values you'll guys notice have some really odd values.

Now I opened up my MW2 mp_config.cfg file and it had the following values:

sys_configSum "209012943"
seta sys_configureGHz "17.9757"
seta sys_sysMB "2048"

(Keep in mind these values are unique to your own system, don't just copy and paste mine ;) )

I copied and pasted the values for those 3 settings from my MW2 config file and pasted it into my Black Ops mp_config.cfg file.

Save it, and remember to set the file's property to read only.

Then launch the game. Its now as if the game is as smooth as cod 4 & mw2, and it made a MASSIVE difference on my side.

If you don't have MW2 to get those values, you will probably find them in your cod4 cfg as well. It will also work if you just substitute your cpu speed and ram values in there as well.

As for the configSum, leave it at its default value.

What all of this basically does, it makes your game as smooth as it was in MW2 and CoD 4. I have absolutely no stuttering with these changes.

See if it works for any of you guys. :)

I saw the ping spike 999. Everbodies ping went up except mine. :0 This game feels like its still in beta with all the bugs, lol.

This works for me. It appears I have no lag, for now. Thanks StoneCold

OK the lag seems definitely less to me... but it could be just the fact that its 4am...

its because its 4am......it feels just like cod4, if you have IS R496 intenet - ( its really a 1mb/s account ), you will stagger when youre in a confrontation, you will think that you are shooting the enemy but no youre actully dead already and he killed you because he has faster internet, with MW2 yes the IWnet was shocking but not as bad as this

Glad to hear that it worked for you sanXion, hope that it helps other people as well in this thread. :)
