I don't mind to be honest. Carlo said he was going to promote 4-5 youth players. The six players that went unnamed were part of his plans since the end of last season - players that he wants to introduce more. So no biggie. Though I have to say, we bought Mikel a year too late
A season earlier and he could have been considered homegrown. Still - next season, Sturridge will be too old for the U21 rule and will be an extra home-grown player so yeah... it's all good.

You can't name a full complement ie: the full 25. It seems to be 3 foreigners for 1 homegrown, so if we had the other four homegrown players then we could have added two more foreigners. Not that we need it much to be brutally honest. I'm quite glad we are going to be using some of the youth instead of buying other players. Carlo bought smartly - Benayoun for his tactical smarts and to be cover for Cole's departure (and to help phase in K.akuta) and Ramires to shore up the midfield a bit. We have ample cover at left back, right back is a bit of a problem due to injures, but Monobrowsinger is due back in about a week and Ivanovic can play there AND Bruma is quite adept at the position AND we have Ferreira. Centrally... Van AAnholt, Bruma, Terry, Alex and Ivanovic is quite good - seeing as he wants to give Bruma some more experience. Let's not forget Slobodan Rajkovic - who is HUGELY talented - at only 21 needs just to get a few regular games at Vitesse and he'll definitely be in the Serbia squad. Once that happens, he'll have no problem getting a work permit and taking his place int he Chelsea squad. So... not that phased to be honest.

Squad size is 25, with 8 homegrown and unlimited u21's. So if you only have 7 homegrown, squad over 21yrs old is 24. 6 homegrown, squad is 23, etc etc. Chelsea hve 4 homegrown, so squad size is 21 (21 players over age of 21).

Actually, we have 19 in the squad, but the squad that can be used is still 25 (counting the young ones promoted).

You don't have enough over 21 players to register the maximum 25 (in your case, 21). In United's case, for example, we have a full 25 man over 21yr old squad, and then on top of that we have the under 21's, Fabio, Rafael, Bebe, Corry Evans, Chris Smalling, Gabriel Obertan, Ritchie De Laet, Ben Amos and Federico Macheda. So about 34 players in total, which is awesome in case of injuries and when the season really gets going.

I just thought that there were other side regulations added to that (like not being able to register 2 foreigner if you had only 4 homegrown). We could have kept some players that were sent on loan, but Carlo obviously believes the players he has chosen will be enough.
Honestly, I reckon if Matic continues playing like he has in his first game for Vitesse then he will be in the squad next year and Cork has a chance to prove himself ready of first team footy at Burnley instead of waiting for the odd start were he actually in the squad. We could've have named at least six (with Cork and Mancienne) but there wouldn't be any point. They'd probably never play so...

That's been confirmed, my thoughts on the subs : Hilario, Ka.kuta, Ramires, Ferreira, Van Aanholt and maybe Borini. Two more... Lamps and Cole definitely not in the squad. Hopefully Bruma will be able to make it. I really hoe that Ka.kuta and Van Aanholt will get some game time and of course Ramires as well...

True - though I' place most of the blame on Cech's shakiness and Zhirkov being totally uninterested. You seem pretty quiet about Sturridge's maiden ECL goal and the introduction of Ka.kuta, Van Aanholt and McEachran. That was awesome.
