Official Currie Cup Thread 2012

That pass was a real 50/50 and I think that ref handled it very well. He did well referring it and asked the right question. You are always going to annoy one side in a situation like that.

It does not look like any one team can hold on to so real momentum.

Last weekend I thought the Bulls would have some momentum, but the WP humiliated them. The Lions fell to the Griekwas on their home ground. And the Sharks did not really convince.

Griekwas vs Sharks
Bulls vs Lions
Cheethas vs WP

All are imo 50/50 games. If the Griekwas show up like they did last week against the Lions the Sharks are in for hard match, if the Bulls are as pathetic as last weekend they are in for a long afternoon and if the WP can keep going as they did last weekend the cheethas will have to really play a great game to keep the game from becoming too one sided.

Wait, why call the Cheetahs "Cheaters" if you think they we're screwed by the officials? I though people were on about something else.

Pro ..... the most ironic name ever for the ****test ref we have in SA.

Now that the TMO can rule on almost anything, physics lessons are required for officials. Some idiots have no clue that a ball passed while a player is in motion will drift forward, it's the hand movement that counts...

And slo-mo replays leading to redefining what a single movement is...

Lions were in the mode and played well to down the Bulls. Sharks were overwhelmed by a determined Griquas team. Cheetahs should have win that game. Even the Bulls would have taken this game ;)

Okay so as it turns out, I was the one in for a rude awakening...:o

Pro had a shocker of a reffing match though. Not since Bryce's epic performance in the WC have I seen a breakdown blown as poorly as that! Every infringement under the sun took place by Griquas in the final 20 minutes at the breakdown and none were called. Apparently throwing 5 players over the ball, sealing it off, going off your feet, playing the ball on the ground, coming in from the side, and intentionally slowing the ball down are considered okay in Pro's book. Now as a Sharks fan I usually have a dig at the refs just for the hell of it but in this case Pro deserves a renaming. I deem him, Amateur U-13C Legoete.

Sharks did cock it up for themselves though in the end. Was a really poor effort on their part. Thank odin the Proteas saved me from completely drowning my weekend sporting sorrows...

And that was the trend for the final 20 minutes of the game. Griquas just throwing bodies at the breakdown like a dance-off at a down's syndrome school...
 
I love rugby, but I am sad to say that the last couple of years' rugby is so dissapointing. I hate this kicking all over the place and wait for the opponents to make a mistake. What rules should be changed/implemented to stop this. I remember the oooooooold days when rugby was about winning the ball by the forwards and getting it to the backline to try and score tries with flair and ingenuity ...

I only saw the first half.... and there I did not see anything really bad.

You must remember that you are a Shark supporter and thus 300% over zealous in the cause to discredit the ref :p:D
