Official Google Nexus 7 Thread

This *may* shed some light on the issue (one has no idea how reliable the source is):

Also remember there was a bug in the O build and that is also why the OTA updates were stopped for all Nexus devices. If I remember correctly, it had to do with devices that had encryption enabled on their devices. So the bug was corrected and new OTA updates were created (S build), the issue effectively delayed the roll out of the OTA updates by a week or so.

On that note, I flashed the O build on my N4 and N7 when they were released and then flashed the S build on the N7 only when that was released. Still waiting for the S build via OTA on the N4.

That's the same version as mine. I didn't do anything special. Woke up in the morning and it was waiting for me to install. My Wi-fi is live 24/7

Mine is also constantly on Wi-Fi. ah well I will receive it sometime I guess.

Got the OTA update this morning. Straight off things that bug me:
* GSAM no longer works (apps no longer have access to battery stats)
* the up/down indicator for wifi has gone as has the blue indicator that shows an active internet connection
* you can no longer turn on the GPS without having locations active

My 2012 3G+wifi got it's KitKat 4.4 update via wifi yesterday, most of the time it's set on airplane mode for the kids protection. Keyboard now allows easier access to numbers.

Wakelock detectors also don't work.

Why is Google trying to hide these things?

On your first point - Better Battery Stats still works fine, you just have to go into its advanced settings and enable root functionality. (Assuming you're rooted, of course.)

All of the battery apps work if you're rooted. As I asked, why is Google hiding this?

reverted back to stock and got the update .. all is working well just the fullscreen app does not work, any of you know of an alternative?

Some interesting reading (especially the comments) in this article concerning the up and down arrows and the blue Internet indicator:

Anywhere local in Durban I can fondle one of these?
I've got a Samsung 10.1" tab and want to get an idea of the Nexus 7 for size. Don't you find it a bit small?
The screen also looks quite small in a larger frame, or is it just the images that give it that perception.

I've got family in the US at the moment and they could bring one back for me, would the 4G LTE version work here?
My choices are:
Wifi only version? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/997056-REG/asus_nexus7_asus_2b32_32gb_google_nexus_7.html
Wifi/LTE version? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1005532-REG/asus_nexus7_asus_2b32_lte_32gb_google_nexus_7.html

I went from the Galaxy tab 10.1 to the Nexus 7. Did not enjoy it. Feels way to small.
Got a Nexus 10 now so happy camper.

If I may ask, where did you get it from?

Bought it from Amazon. Cost +-R4700 inclusive of shipping and a screen protector.

Will load 4.4.2 on it this weekend and then root and play around with it a bit more. So far, just loaded a few games and videos on it.

Only disappointment I have- is that Google launched a white one today :(
