Official Google Nexus 7 Thread

I have never singed up for a google wallet account either. When you add your CC it automatically links google wallet to your gmail account I think.

This seriously blows.

Edit: It appears you can now change your GW address, but its not working. Seems like they are going to fix this then hopefully the credit will be available.

I see. I logged into Google Wallet, and it displayed an US address for me.

See this:

Home Address

Your home address is your primary residence and is used to ensure that you’re able to access all of the Google Wallet services and features available in your area.

You can update your home address at any point of time, including changing to a different country. Please enter your business address if you’re representing a company.

To update your address:

Sign in to your Google Wallet account.
Click the gear icon in the upper right.
Locate your Home Address and click Edit.
Update your address and click Save.
Note: You'll need to sign new Terms of Service if the country on record has changed. For legal reasons, we need to serve the right Terms of Service based on where you reside.

Unfortunately, users with a Google Play balance or a Checkout Merchant account are unable to change the country.

The next selection of apps on promotion is available. No good apps in my opinion, unfortunately.

How long will they be rolling out specials for? I bought a few last night, seriously @ R2 its almost theft.

In total for 5 days. Day 3's apps are currently available. So basically the promotion will end Sunday evening.

I have two questions.

First, what's the general consensus on what is the cheapest and best way to obtain an N7 in South Africa? Reading through the thread, it sounds like it's Esquire?

Secondly, does anyone know how to actually go about purchasing a tablet from Esquire? As I understand it they only sell to resellers; they're not exactly consumer-friendly.

Well generally the prices are much the same with all retailers and even Esquire. Around the R3000 - R3200 mark is the norm. There are some online retailers selling them for about R3200. I personally bought mine from Zac on the forum.

But if you want to go through Esquire you can, you will just need to sign up an account with them, this can be done as a MyBroadband user, at least I still think this is being done.

Well, they seem to be much more widely available after the official launch, so getting old of one should be easy now.

Question for N7 owners: do you find it easy to read on? I read a few reviews that said that the font rendering on the N7 is not very good and this makes for a bad reading experience. Since reading text, in various forms, is pretty much the main thing I want one for, I was just wondering whether you guys have actually found this to be a problem.

The device handles text & browsing in general very well.

My experience with Google Reader has been awesome! It bridges the gap between smartphone & PC perfectly...

I have no issues reading articles and web pages. For book reading, my Kindle stilk wins.

Yeah, e-ink displays are better for pure reading. But I don't have a Kindle. And I assume that as a reader, the N7 would work a heck a of a lot better than my Gnex.

I find some pages reading text is crap, especially on TapaTalk, but then in Flipboard for example its crystal clear.

Elaborate? My Tapatalk seems fine.

I just find the text not black enough, also the text doesn't look solid. But that being said, I might just be pedantic. All other text looks pretty good to me.
