Flash Player 10.1

Does anyone know if there is benefit to updating flash player on the desire. Its taking up 12 mb on my phone memory (yes yes, root, change to sd memory, etc.).

I read on the flash website that flash 10.1 is bundled with the 2.2 update for the desire. It still wants to update through the market though.

activate in settings keyboard and input. Then long press in any input field and select swype as input method. If you see that your swyping doesn't enter a word, you may have to do the same thing and select input method back to the default. Type out any word. And then reselect swype as an input method.

coz when i did it.yes it didnt want to swype.but it would enter normally fine

apparently when we update to froyo.we dont get flash 10
but yes i've done it through the market.and it cant be moved to the sd card even with the sdcard mod
 
Long wait - over

I ordered my Desire early September from Vodashop - after many empty promises eventually I cancelled my order mid Sept. Then with the announcement of the new HD, I toyed with the idea of holding out for it rather.

Then out of the blue they phoned me Friday to tell me stock had arrived and was I interested. Did some quick thinking and decided bird in the hand + honestly the HD is a little too big for my type of usage. My phone spends most its time in my pocket with me out and about. Regards the desire - Wow is all I can say - very very happy with my decision! :):):)
 
yeah ... the new htc stuff is light years from the old htc rubbish they used to make. nowadays htc handsets are way better than SE plastic handsets. just hold a desire in one hand and an x10 in the other... big ups htc

had my nexus since january... still not a scratch and i dont use any covers or protectors

I was going to ask, would it be prudent to buy something like that for the Desire, i.e. a screen protector?

Or is it not really needed, my phone is going to be in my pocket quite a bit.
 
your call i think. i personally hate screen protectors... feels like when you buy a new gadget and its still got that lame protection film on it. . nah not for me. and i use my HTC's hard, and i drop them lots. and they still scratch free. im sure tho if i really tried i could scratch it but, protectors are not for me. thats not how the phone was designed ... i say ;)

Yea, I kinda agree with you, I bought the phone to use it, not to protect hit.

Seems like they are quite tough so i think i'll go without the screen protector :P

Anything I can do to make the migration to the phone easier? I've cleaned up all my contact details into Gmail and sorted them and what not.
 
thats the only thing... you will now be living in a google world, the CLOUD. once all your contacts are synced in gmail, thats it ... FOREVER. if you lose your phone, or break it, or flash a new rom, when you boot your new phone and enter your gmail acc... it will just be there. whats nice too is when you are out and about and enter a new contact phone number or email, it automatically just ends up in the cloud, no syncing required .. NOTHING !!! gotto laugh at those facebook messages on my wall .. " lost my Blackberry, please send me your blackberry pin again everyone" hehe

ah and also, when you first start your Desire, when it asks, also enter your facebook details. coz then all your facebook contact pics will sync with your google contacts. and everyone will automatically have a pic.

Is it possible to make it that once you tell it to sync with google it shall. Create a separate contact group called phone? With out adding each person
 
sup guys, while we were on the subject I though I would fix up my gmail account with all my contacts details. I have now wiped my phone of all the contacts stored on it (after exporting to file to be safe), and I have all my contacts with all info on gmail. But now, when I sync with gmail to get my contacts back, it does not see any of them, although I have 118 contacts on gmail under "My Contacts". I have set my phone to display it so I don't know, does it take a while or what can it be?

EDIT: hmmm weird... getting this message on the contacts sync under my gmail account (on the phone):

"Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." Guess that explains it...?

EDIT 2: Solution:

Go to "Settings". Select "Applications".
Select "Manage Applications".
Scroll down to "Contacts Storage"
Click on "Clear Data"

Go back to to "Settings" again and in "Data Synchronization"
resync by pressing "Synchronize Now"

OK, so after reading 1,474 posts, I am fairly educated on the Desire! Very keen on this device, just a few Q's:
- how do I work out if I'm getting an AMOLED or LCD, before buying? Freaks me out that they downgraded to LCD!
- is typing on the touchscreen really quick enough, compared to a Blackberry?
- any decent Podcast-downloading and listening software out there?
 
Hi Ppl,

I got my desire last week after waiting for quite a few weeks, any ways after I raided the market place I decided it was time to hook it up to the pc, via usb.........

this did not go well as the phone did not do anything except charge, I changed the pc connection options and tried again, no joy, I dual boot so I have done this in Win7 and Vista, both of them only pick up some sort of storage device named HTC, but there are no files in there?? I downloaded and installed the htc sync program, but this didnt help either...........

does anyone have suggestions? or a solution?
 
Solution? You dont have a problem what do you want to solve?

Settings.. change to: "charge only", "disk drive", "HTC Sync" or "USB tethering"

@ Vegeta..............Sure, I hate it when people dont read, I have done that and it didnt work, didnt have a notification to connect, didnt do anything except charge.

I googled it found that removing simcard, sd card and battery solves the problem, dont know for how long......
 
Okay but you dont have to wait for a notification.
Go to settings, connect to pc. Theres an option for: ASK ME(when i connect)
and also "DEFAULT CONNECTION TYPE"

You can play with these settings even before connecting your device.

I keep mine on my desk most of the time, but noticed microscratches on the back started to appear quite quickly. A couple of pages back, I recommend gadgetshieldz.com. The protectors are barely noticeable and last a year. And just R51 postage paid.
