I flashed InsertCoin ROM and this no longer happens! :)

Anyway glad to see we getting paid apps now!

howzit dude. hows your 3g signal with insertcoins rom? im using robos rom which is very simaliar. but using the x-a2sd
 
I havent realy checked, now that you mention it. I only have EDGE at the office but I did not notice any problems when I was at home.

I flashed it normaly through recovery after a full boot of the ROM. Check on the InsertCoin page, it has a RIL firmware drivers zip you should also flash when using this radio

That being said, the current version of this utility didn't play nice with my laptop; luckily I had an older version lying around...

managed to get S-OFF but can't change splash screen, keep getting the 3 androids on skateboards - used Android Flasher to flash image but no luck (maybe it's my image) :?
tried one of the images on xda-forums thread and it worked :?

PS. the problem with S-OFF not working was b'cos I had Leedroid ROM...needed a ROM that not data++ (?) like Oxygen or CM

Whats the best way to back-up contacts? Using stock HTC Sense and have linked up contacts in the contact book (between gmail as well as on the contacts on the phone).

I dont know if you want to back up the links or the contacts? Normally contacts get backed up to your Gmail account automatically and you can even edit them on Gmail contacts and the changes will be replicated back to your phone.

Both Lookout and AVG have contact back-up as well as normal antivirus protection, maybe look at those.

now that the contacts are linked i want them to be backed up as one contact, does gmail do this?

It should, you can just log into Gmail and go edit a contact you will see under other it should have entries like (HTC DATA:Facebook.......) in it.
 
I just got an HTC Desire and it's flashed with CyanogenMod 7.0.2.1, running Gingerbread 2.3.3

I want to get an HTC Desire Z (I want my keyboard back!!!) and I'd like to have Gingerbread on it but it comes with Froyo. Anyone here offer to flash a phone for a price? I'd be more than willing to pay someone to do it. I've read about it and it's so many steps and very confusing to a point. I'd hate to brick my phone.

Anyway, glad to find this forum and hopefully learn great things here!!

i there another way to backup that would not involve all my contacts going into Gmail (sorry, im being difficult haha) just that i dont want all my contacts in gmail.

LOL, 2 late :) they already there the moment you use your Google account to log into a Android phone.

You can always install Lookout or AVG free, they both have Contact back-ups as well.

You're not too likely to find too many fellow Canadians 'round these parts. The place you really need to go to for all your Desire Z flashing requirements is here.
 
When is Gingerbread arriving ? I'm with MTN prepaid so I'm gonna need a free wi-fi hotspot coz I hear the update is around 100mb... any places in Pretoria?
