Yea you are confused. The premise of dual cameras is to be able to shift the focus irrespective of where it's initially at.
Check out the Lytro, I'm sure this is similar tech.
I don't think so. The 2ndary camera is there for depth perception so after effects can be applied. If you focus on the front object, you'll be able to shift focus to an object in the background. If the front in-focus object is out of focus, you are screwed afaik. which makes sense. You can't focus everywhere all of the time.
