Official HTC One (M8) Thread

Yea you are confused. The premise of dual cameras is to be able to shift the focus irrespective of where it's initially at.

Check out the Lytro, I'm sure this is similar tech.

I don't think so. The 2ndary camera is there for depth perception so after effects can be applied. If you focus on the front object, you'll be able to shift focus to an object in the background. If the front in-focus object is out of focus, you are screwed afaik. which makes sense. You can't focus everywhere all of the time.

We'll have to try and find a video that explains this feature better.

The UFocus feature functions very similar to a Lytro camera, yes.

Android Central had a Q&A in their forums today. They have the phone in their grubby paws. This is the response from one of the mods.

So 4 years ago. There was a thread on MyBB that went on for months, whilst we all waited for the HTC Desire HD to arrive on South African shores. And it took several months after International release before it eventually arrived in SA mid December of 2010.

So has any one managed to gather any information on when we can expect to see it here? Are the new importers better and faster than Leaf was? Or will we end up waiting like 3-6months for the phone to arrive?

well HTC just replied on Twitter. To which they said they hope to have it here by end of April. So we shall see what happens

What of stores such as the Orange Store? Of course, this wouldn't be contract, but I see they ship the old HTC one, so perhaps they might get the HTC One M8 in the near future.

I love how the twitter account wakes up at the release of a new phone but is soon abandoned once the sales have taken place and the hype died down

anyone got an HTC One M8 yet?
If so, thoughts on it?
I am in 2 minds about getting it still

Judging by the price on Orange Store looks like it will be equivalent price to S5, Z2, and other top-tier phones (my guess is R449pm x24 minimum price) and I have a feeling it will be available in early May..

I sent all the networks a message on Facebook, and they actually replied :D

However I received mixed answers from all. Vodacom seemed to be the most promising, saying that the device was currently being tested.

You'd think that for all flagship phones, the providers would have an expected date of release locally.
