Official HTC One (M8) Thread

I have to wait 2/3 days before I can buy it from expansys :'(

+1. Just sent MTN a message, lets see what they say.
 
MTN confirmed that they're testing the device as well. They got back to me with an answer yesterday. Unfortunately that's as much as they were willing to share.

I'm pretty set on that phone. Really want it. I'm willing to look past some of the downfalls for that quality :)
 
Been on a phone hunt the last few days, been to just about every cell phone shop in VNA and Canal Walk. Didn't see one HTC phone or poster for any model anywhere. I asked a few places about HTC and they say "they no longer in SA", "difficult to get" et cetera. Really isnt looking good for my M8.
 
I just placed an order for the HTC One M8 from the orange store. Getting excited now.

And HTC do have a seller in SA, cant remember who at the moment. But yeah, getting good local support is tough sadly. But I have decided it is worth the effort. So keen for this phone

Yeah their marketing in SA isn't the best. I was hoping for this One that there would be adverts, banners etc but there is absolutely nothing. Everyone in the cellphone shops that I've spoken look at me blankly when I mention HTC One, while all around the store are S5 adverts..

I can live without the marketing. But waiting for a release date is killing me :/
 
Try calling Ingram Micro Mobility in SA. They should have a better Idea. They're the company that's doing such a stellar job with HTC here.

If you have no luck at all with them, you might as well call Regenersis. Maybe they have heard something even though they're only tech support
 
I love HTC's phones, but their horrific/nonexistent local representation, along with the corporate blunders which have been in the news, have put me off the company. The M8 is almost perfect (aside from the camera and the price), but without decent support, it's not worth spending such a large amount for a phone.

So in an unexpected change of events... The HTC SA facebook page came back to life after 6 months of silence confirming the HTC one M8 is on its way to SA. Another guy posted a tweet from MTN saying the M8 will be available from next month.

Hmmm... but who do we trust to support us, once we've paid a fat bundle for the M8??

Well Regenersis do the repairs and from what I have heard are quite good.

ITO firmware updates et cetera who knows. Although even Samsung/Local SP's are useless at this. My S3 saw 1 update in two years. My Note 2014 tablet is also horribly out of date compared to the rest of the world.
 
Considering this phone on a new contract, hoping to hear some news of a release soon :)

Why would you physically walk around looking for a phone? :-D
Those who say they are no longer in SA just dont want to sell the product.
Orange sells it locally, they have a store in Cape, Sandton and Pretoria.
They also have a web-site, (expansys) that sells it online.
You will get all the support you need for the device locally. Google was right that walk in stores are dead, they only have limited selections. It's seems that people still have this need to see the phone... which a picture could do.

Well, just placed my order :-)

That may be true, but many, many consumers still feel an overwhelming need to physically hold the item in their hands before spending so much.
