Seriously, the advantages of buying it from Orange is so much more than getting it through one of our cell companies. Best of all you get to cut out a real lot of dumb people out of the process.
And the phone delivers quickly.
You'll also be able to change your phone to prepaid, which means you'll pay less for phone calls and all that stuff.

Buying from Orange is the better choice. You buy from vodacom/mtn when you cannot afford to pay for it upfront. I'd recommend a personal loan/credit card, because then you have an option of paying it off earlier if you want to without significant dildo penetration.

Origin is super fast with the shipping, and there's no bloatware on the phone.

In the end It's Leaf who sucks. But who needs them anyways.

Another advantage is that you get updates as soon as they are released in Europe - No waiting for voda/mtn

Hey Anakha56, Mr_Norris and I went to the Vodashop in Gateway over the weekend and we just got flat out denied. I don't know how you managed to get someone to try and order you one when the sales consultant we spoke to said the phone is not available.

I think it's because they outsource their testing. Well I know Vodacom outsourced their testing to WDS because I used to work there as a technical writer. But that was years ago so I can't confirm if they're still the reason why testing takes so long or if they even still use them for testing. What I can say is testing really did take ages! I got to see new phones months in advance of their actual launch during the brief period I worked there.

Sadly I don't have the credit available to go the Orange Store route so I'm hoping by harassing the networks with tweets like this it might light a fire under their ass and get this phone out on the shelves already! :twisted: (PS: If you think retweeting might help, please do so! ;))
 
Quick question for those that ordered the phone online (from orange etc.) ... If your device happens to pick up problems along the way like scratched/cracked camera lens or other hardware problems how would you get it fixed?

Regeneris will support your handset but they will charge you for everything.

Thanks - it is good to know why it takes so long. It would just be great if there was a standard testing period and the networks could tell us where they were in the process, and surely they could work out a release date based on this. I think it is the not-knowing that is driving people crazy and they are making decisions on long-term contracts. I could imagine waiting for the HTc and giving up and going for the GS5 and the One releasing the next day ----- the HORROR.

PS: are you still waiting for Cell C's reply to your tweet??

Well, Orange has stores locally. The phone does have a warranty, if my repairs are in warranty I will take it to them. They do support the warranty, but your best bet is... ask them :-)
 
Still no confirmation on when we'll see the M8. I'm in need of a new phone and the iPhone is becoming more & more attractive to me.

At this rate I may as well go onto prepaid and get the next HTC flagship phone next year. I don't particularly want to go Apple either...

Yeah I reckon its because I pointed out to them that even the manager of the store said I could do an order and thats why I was able to order it. I don't have much hope TBH...

I did phone them yesterday afternoon to query about it and the response I received was "Phone back next Monday because we will have our new stock list then." so yeah phone back on Monday...

A guy on the HTC SA facebook page says it is now available on MTN... Not sure if its legit.

I wonder why he doesn't say available at Cellucity instead of "release at Vodacom"? If customers go direct to Vodacom stores then Cellucity loses out :whistle:

Good question.. I would go to Cellucity, they seem more attentive and focused. Keen on getting your business..
 
So I tried my luck today and phoned Vodacom Gateway, it is the 1st of June after all :p. And I get told...

It has not been launched on the Vodacom network yet.

Worth a try anyway..... I really hope it's not another month though - will upset even more soon-to-be ex-HTC fans. Pity thught because it is not really the phone or the company that's bad but just the local situation. I'm pretty sure there's no other country that hasn't launched the phone yet.

If I recall correctly they update the contract lists on a Monday so try again tomorrow?? Just don't waste all your airtime chasing the phone down as I'm sure we'll be the first to know on this thread...

It wont be a month, MTN update contracts on 1st of the month hence their availability... but Vodacom only update theirs on the 7th so wait till the 8th to find out whether it will be available
