Official HTC One (M8) Thread

Thanks for the impressions, really want to jump on it but holding off to see what the LG G3 will be like before dropping 10K hahaa.. One more month with my iPhone :(

Thanks mr_norris for those :). I have decided that once a week I am going to be phoning Voda stores to ask for a release date, hopefully this will be seen as a increase in demand and get the testing over and done with quickly :p.

I am extremely happy with the phone after more than a week of usage.
The speakers are excellent quality, and the camera is way better than the reviews would have you believe. I get excellent photos, that are a million times better than my S3 ever was.
One thing I was concerned about before buying, was the height of the phone, and now that I have it, I am pleased to say it is not a concern at all. The bezzle with the HTC logo, I thought was too big, not an issue at all, very comfortable to use.

My biggest gripe is that I use Action launcher, and so I cant get access to blinkfeed with that. Else, I am seriously stoked with the phone.

Great review :)

I can hardly believe it! HTC South Africa's twitter handle lives!!!

Still sad that it took so long to get a reply, but hey they did reply...

Yeah, both FB and Twitter accounts became active around the time the new HTC One was launched in the US. That response of theirs is fairly standard.

It's so frustrating not knowing when it'll be released. By the time it does come out, I'll probably hold off for something better :/

I'm not feeling positive. The phone is $699 in the US. Don't know how it can cost less than 4k here, especially with WantItAll.

I placed an order anyway....just wondering if I should do the payment or not

Do they do full refunds or offer store credit?

Take note: This is the AT&T version. In other words, it has frequency bands of 800 and 1900. As such, it wont work in South Africa, as SA uses frequency bands of 900 and 1800.

I wouldnt order that. 90% chance it wont work

Ah okay nevermind then

Thanks

I'm afraid it's a no go. Not surprised:

Hi

Unfortunately we wont be able to import the device for you, we order all products listed on the site from Amazon in the USA . Our site live streams all product from our suppliers (amazon) and therefore meaning we have no control on the feeds that we get. Unfortunately due to site live streaming some items listed are not compatible with South African frequency, Specifications, technicalities and or service plans, etc.

We afraid we wont be able to process your order due to the following.
The carrier is an international company AT&T , (network isn't available in SA)
It comes with a service plan, you wont qualify for the contract unless if you posses the following,*USA zip-code, *social security number and *USA banking details
The phones are region locked and therefore will not work in SA
They wont get through customs due importing restrictions (ICASA)
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and delay and appreciate your patronage as well as understanding.

For further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards

The fact that it is coming out before the M8? HTC are the last major name (in SA} to get it's flagship device out. As mr_norris said by the time they do get their phone out here newer flagship devices would be announced & prepped for launch.

@mr_norris (and anyone else in Durban), just got off the phone with Vodacom Gateway (031 566 3157) and they said that we can order the phone and when it arrives we can collect. They won't be advertising it due to poor sales. So Saturday I am going to see if I can order my M8...
