Official HTC One thread

Another delay...ag nee man! :( Also really wanted to support HTC but I'm not gonna sit around forever while they get their arose into gear

Turning out just the same as the S3 vs One X so far (as predicted). Guess I won't be seeing anyone with the One any time soon either.

Looks like there is even more delays, mostly due to demand..

And this aint good news either, ifixit gave the HTC One a 1/10 for repairability..

I don't know how that will translate for repair costs if the phone gets busted up.
I want this phone bad, but the wait is getting too long. Looks like if it reaches SA the S4 will be out already lol

The delay sucks... Damn you HTC!

However, the iFixit rating did state that the phone is rather durable to begin with.

Email from Vodacom to me:

"Dear Stefan

I have confirmed with our Procurement division that the HTC One will be available from mid April 2013. There is currently no option available to pre-order the device, however you may visit your local Vodacom shop to enquire closer to the time. "

hmmm... Im skeptical... :) I wonder if we have anyone on the forum with news on Cell C availability?

Im gonna try and find out...

Anymore news on the HTC One?? Really want this phone. Been checking out reviews on TechnoBuffalo, Engadget.. etc. All very positive reviews.

Would be awesome if it did arrive mid April as stated above, but Vodacom only release their new deals 6th/7th of each month so does that mean they will only release it around 6th May?? That would suck. Anyone got news from CellC??

Thanks for this. I'm gonna sit with a coffee and go through it slowly. I'm really at a loss on his comments regarding the camera.

He said that it's the best camera, especially for low light, but in a test I read online the s4 was giving better photos in low light using their low light scene mode.

So I sit confused

HTC released a firmware patch that fixes the ultrapixel camera issues (in regard with automatic ISO), this patch were not previously applied in other reviews which had preview models. According to HTC this issue is resolved with all phones being commercially available.

GSMArena had an article on the solution and were pretty much satisfied with the "fixed" results, but did not do another comparison.

Thanks for the link. I'm aware of this software fix, but I'm almost certain that I read a dedicated article (wasn't gsmarena) where they compared low light photos and Samsung still came out tops?

I'll try find it...

Full review here : GSMArena

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S4. Surprisingly, the Samsung Galaxy S4 has the better low-light camera performance. You'll have to snap several photos to make sure you have a good one, but the end result will be better than what the HTC One produces. The Galaxy S4 has a slight advantage in low-light video too.

The HTC One is more reliable - thanks to its OIS you can snap just one photo and know it will be about as good as it gets. But the camera's performance is simply nothing to write home about, and there are cases when OIS just isn't helping at all (when shooting moving subjects).

This is what I was talking about. They did a low-light S4 vs HTC One comparison and according to them the S4 is a clear winner. It really boggles the mind though, especially after reading the anandtech review on the HTC One.

Can someone please explain to me why GSMArena and Anandtech are reporting very differernt reviews? Especially on the camera front...
