no one is talking. not VC, not MTN, not Cell C.... not even the HTC Rep is speaking up....

what can we do? Whichever device comes first I will get, simple. If the HTC is available first I will make DAMN SURE on their swap-out policy before opening that box.

I'm with you. I am still at a loss as to why the providers are not already doing pre-launch updates and information.

Can I get your 64GB SD card?

You're not gonna need it with the HTC phone. :p

The Chinese version (HTC One - model: 802w) has a microSD slot and dual-sim compatibilities with all the other bells-and-whistles. Perhaps one can maybe order one… Already made known that this model will not be seen in the West.

Sounds like something Kim Jong Un will be using :p

You must be kidding, right?

If HTC released the Chinese model to the world, they would see the millions/billions coming in again!

Just sad that they are unable to see the basic things their customers want.

China Unicom (802w)
China Mobile (802t)
China Telecom (802d)
Western world (801n)

In China it is common to have 2 SIM slots, SIM slot for WCDMA/GSM (data and voice) and another for GSM, this model will also feature no Google Services as standard. I also think that it is due to this design that there is no removable-battery for the 801n model.

I also read that the majority of the 801n production will feature an internal 64 Gb storage, maybe to make up for the lack of external microSD.

It is known that HTC do not deliver choice amongst the rest of the world.

Hard to imagine the chinese can be so stupid, but yes, the sales figures are showing it.

For Jan - Mar 2013, HTC only made $2m profit, as to $272m they made for Jan - Mar 2012.

There are no pills for stupidity.

Rather get a Xiaomi :D

I actually run that MIUI on my old X10i, works flawlessly and fast... and very similar to iOS :erm:

My buddies in Europe can buy me a Nexus 4 going at R3200 ;)

But, I'm willing to order a Asus PadFone Infinity!

right, so anyone thinking of getting the HTC One in April or May can remove that thinking from their mind...

Cell C tweeted that they looking at June. Which could quite possibly mean July

Thanks for playing.

Then don't go with Cell C?

I followed up with Vodacom yet again and this was there reply:

"Dear Stefan

I tried to reach you on the number ********** earlier, regarding your current e-mail. You were however not available at the time.

The HTC One is still due to arrive mid April. The exact date has unfortunately not been given.

Kind regards

P.S This was on the 11th of April.

I think I've already lost the little faith I had in htc. Not sure ill take a One even if its released before the S4

I lost faith in HTC when I got my Desire HD & HTC removed South Africa from www.htcsense.com, effectively showing us the middle finger.

But I persisted & got another HTC, and then I stopped for good.

My upgrade is due in July, and I'd go for the HTC One as long as HTC upgrades their software often enough.

HTC has been notorious for slow software updates...

Looking at those pics of the 802w posted in the link above, it seems as if it takes a normal sized SIM card, i.e. not a Micro-SIM as the normal HTC One takes.

I don't want to part with my normal-sized SIM card, but if I get the HTC One, what are my choices?

Unless you get a hold of the Chinese versions.. you would most likely need do cut your normal sized sim, else do a sim swap. There are several templates of cutting your normal sized sim that are quite useful or guys at the cellular stores may help cut for you (but not recommended).
Then what you could do is get a micro sim to normal sim adaptor if you would like to use phones that still takes normal sized sims. Or else, depending on the sim holder of the phone, you could 'place' a micro sim in just the right position of a normal sim holder phone, and this will work too. I have done it before and works perfectly fine.
