Official HTC One thread

Anyone know if the HTC One that will be release in SA will have LTE/non-LTE variants?
Or will it come straight with an LTE version only?

Vodacom upgrade center today (24th April) still don't have stock of this phone. They are claiming first week of May. Lets hope, my contract is about to expire and im waiting on this phone.

hmm.. that's next week! Hold thumbs. I'm guessing it will have LTE right?

LTE model is not in the country yet from what Im hearing. Will come later

Ok, thanks.
Was just under the impression that only Samsung S4 will have variants (i9500 and i9505).
However the HTC One will have the Snapdragon 600 cpu which supports LTE. The S4 with LTE has the Snapdragon 600 cpu and the S4 with non-LTE will have the Exynos Octa-core cpu.

I guess only time will tell.

One for the fence sitters

The Galaxy S4 is fast and impressive, but it's also noisy and complex. The One is refined, quiet, comfortable, beautiful, and above all simply pleasant. I love using that phone, in a way I haven't experienced with anything since the iPhone 5. That's why, when my contract is up in June, I'll probably be casting my lot with HTC instead of Samsung

I urge readers looking for a new Android smartphone to carefully consider the more polished-looking, and quite capable, HTC One, rather than defaulting to the latest Samsung.

Read this. It would have swayed me, but the new warranty that Samsung offer tip it hugely in their favour. Not to mention the fact that the warranty will be easy to sort out, as we have many many official Samsung repair centers. Someone name me one for HTC? They don't even have a local footprint here in sa which makes things unnecessarily difficult for them.

Think back to the days of Leaf... Which was hardly pleasant to absorb. We don't even have Leaf anymore.

Where will we take our cracked/broken HTC one to? Network provider? Ok then where are they gonna take it?

Good point. Although if you're buying through a network then the network handles the Warrantee.

Elaborate on "New" Warrantee

My only concern with the HTC is battery life after one year and the cost of replacing it via sending it to Regenersis.

With samsung you get the piece of mind of just being able to buy a battery and popping it in.

Why are people so concerned with drop tests? Are you expecting to drop your phone from a height of three feet plus? Just wondering...

Coz ~5/8 friends I know with s3's have shattered screens. Not that I don't expect damage, but considering the severity and frequency, it's now on my check list

Yeah, I remember just how fragile the S3 was, especially when compared to the S2... Haven't seen the video, how did the One fare?

Well, got tired of waiting for the HTC One to be released locally, so imported it from the UK. Ordered it on Friday and got it before 08:00 this morning.

Very nice phone :)

That's awesome. Can we ask questions? I'll just go ahead anyways ;)

Ive read about battery life which is quite good, however what about the charging time? I heard this takes quite a while. Can you test to see how quick charging is on power saving mode?
